Default One Adam 12; EOW

Fitting tribute.

in pure love of the show and its main character, Shaaron Claridge (the lady that did the displatching on the show) was asked to do one more dispatch due to the death of Martin Milner.

On Sept 2015, Sharron once again dispatched over the LA radio system:

the entire video is about 3 minutes long.

The US Army has a tribute to a soldier lost in combat called;

The Last Roll Call

(For those who don't know about the last roll call. It is part of a memorial ceremony when a soldier in a unit is killed. The company first sergeant or the platoon sergeant depending on how big the ceremony is will call off the names of everybody in the unit. Everybody responds with "Here first sergeant" or "here sergeant". The dead soldiers name is said last. It is first called out with as rank and last name eg. Pvt. Doe. Of course there is no response so then it is called out with rank first and last name eg. Pvt. John Doe... and then the last time the name is called it is rank, first, middle, and last name eg. Pvt John Joeseph Doe. After there is no response for the third time the firing squad of 7 people fires three volleys and then taps is played. The ceremony includes a display of boots with a rifle stuck in the ground between them and a helmet resting on top, and also the person's picture. I hope this can help people understand this poem.)

The Last Roll Call

Here we stand in formation
To honor a brother who served his nation
One by one our names are read
As the tears begin to shed
His name is called there is no sound
Just solemn faces all around
Three times in all his name is said
But he cannot answer for he is dead

READY AIM FIRE
READY AIM FIRE
READY AIM FIRE

He will never shoot another round
His rifle sticks in the ground
I see the boots he used to wear
They’re empty now he isn’t there
I’ll forever remember the day he died
I’ll remember today when we all cried
So on this day we say goodbye
But in our hearts he’ll never die

That show is on at 5 and 5.30 each week day. I love to watch it to see the old cars and some of the actors just getting started in their jobs.

I do have a question. How come many times the dispatcher say all units on all frequencies stay off the air. The object of different frequencies is to be able to have different things going on.

My local town force had 4 frequencies. Of course one was the main one, but they could have a chase going on F1, but on F2 the detectives could be taking and F3 could be car to car exchange going on.

Back in the days of Adam-12, the cars could hear the dispatcher but not each other. During a major incident, the major call is simulcast on all frequencies and all the officers would start talking at once and quickly overwhelm the RTOs working each frequency. They would have to tell all units to stay off the air and keep it clear for emergency traffic. It was a real thing and still is today.

I liked both shows. To bad they don't make them like that anymore.

I have a friend who did something similar. When as a kid he heard the song The Ballad of the Green Beret and saw the movie we decided that is what he wanted to do. He retired as a Colonel Special Forces Green Beret

Once I read in TV Guide that Milner was picked for that show because of his experience from Route 66 at pulling a car up to a camera and stopping it perfectly for a scene. Apparently hitting your mark as an actor is one thing, but doing it with a car is another level of skill.

Here’s something. The actor who played Eddie Haskell on Leave it to Beaver, Ken Osmond, went on to become a Los Angeles Police Officer after the show ended.

The '55 Chevy from Two Lane Blacktop can be spotted in one of the episodes.
