My wife went to Wal-Mart yesterday. Among the items she picked up were two packages of pork steaks, 2 in each package. She could have got one big package with like 10 steaks, but we didn't need that much. All the self-checks were slammed so she had to go to an actual cashier. When she got to the checkout the cashier told her she had to take one of the packages of pork steaks back, because only one of the identical item per person now. My wife had to explain that they are essentially forcing her to buy more than she needs by doing that. We're talking 3.5 lbs of pork versus getting about 8 lbs of pork. The cashier just quietly said "OK, but next time you know the rule." Note that there were no signs or anything indicating you couldn't buy two small packages of meat of the same item. Like two packs of chicken breasts, no. But a pack of chicken breasts, a pack of thighs, and a whole chicken? That's fine.

My Mother in law is 92, and pretty much house-bound.
Yesterday, I went to the drive-thru at my local bank, which also happens to be my MIL's bank, to deposit her Swiss Social Security check. That was the only transaction I did. The check is in her name, and deposited into her account. No cash involved. I've done this monthly for the past 3 or 4 years. Sometimes the wife is with me, other times not, like yesterday. We have previously done up to 3 separate transactions at a time, between 3 separate accounts in 2 different names/parties(MIL and ours) Now, the dude working the window is wearing rubber gloves. I've never seen this guy at the bank before, and I usually go there on a weekly basis. Good, I can understand the cautious situation (gloves were purple). So, it takes about five minutes for this dude to make the deposit. As he's about to put the container in the vacuum tube, he asks me "what's your birthday?". I reply "mine, or the person's who listed on the deposit slip" He says "yours". So I told him, he says thanks, and sends the tube to me. WTF was that for? I'm not listed on that account, but my wife is (it's a Trust acct). Oh well, this quarantine BS gives me lots of time to wonder, Things that make you go Hmmmmmm? |

Does anyone really expect the idiots who cannot do basic math, speak basic English or have a sense of overall entitlement since they can stand upright to respond well in a situation like this ?
