Just since I brought it up, I want to say that the current day's media wants us all to believe that all slave owners in America were white, and all slaves were black. This is very far from the truth.

In fact, when the first slaves were brought here in 1619, they were not Africans, they were Irish. You can still confirm this on the internet, although I assume that will be scrubbed before too long. The Irish people have a long history of being slaves in North America because the WASPs were fond of taking Irish children and selling them into slavery. Kamala Harris's Great Grandfather, who the entire family admits was a slave owner, owned many slaves of Irish descent. So yes, white, mostly Irish, slaves were very common in North America in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Don't even get me started about the Chinese people who were brought here to help build the railroads, because that's not a pretty story either.

There are genealogy and shipping records to show my first Scots ancestor being brought to the New World as a POW/ Indentured Servant. He was sold on arrival. He later managed to negotiate a way to buy himself from his owner. The ship he came over on came during the coldest November in history, and coming from England sailed the North Atlantic. Many of the cargo died. They didn't have a warm cruise like the ships coming out of Africa.

I repeatedly challenge people going on about slavery and reparations to tell me their family history back to the slave that arrived here, and after a decade or more have NEVER had anyone answer the question. They look at me like I'm crazy when I start telling things like the name of the ship mine came on, and I end it with "If you can't even explain your connection, you've got no right complaining.".
