Guys, do we have anyone near Amarillo??
Here's why
Road tyrip trouble - fuel/ECM maybe? - Corvette Forum It's 8 hours from me and I have to work in the AM or I'd just go get them. Amarillo is 8 hours from me, and I can't get anyone to cover me at work. I think he's got a dying fuel pump, but need to know fuel pressure. Doesn't sound ignition related.....loses power when hot, doesn't misfire. Do we know anyone close? I can go get him later this week if need be. |

That could be few things.
I have to point this; these fuel pumps we have are weird. They need to be lubricated and wet at all times. The three times I ran below 2 gallons in the tank it started to make a weird noise. I hope he didn't try to run until the last drop of gas. There is no a whole lot going on in Amarillo and never seen a member from that area. |

I'm about 4 1/2 hrs away from Amarillo. What are you suggesting? I'm not sure I can do it but if I could go tomorrow (and that's a big IF). What to do once I get there?
I have lots of spare parts for LT1 but no fuel pump. |

Just wondering if we had anyone with tools etc that is close to him. Being stranded a long way from home sucks.
You're still a good ways away from him Bill. Was hoping you guys knew somebody in Lubbock or Amarillo. |

No one from our group that far out. It may be worth a post in the south west forum on CF though. I think there are a few from that area just not C4. I would be willing to do what I can to help. Just not sure what that would be.

you would think it would run at night if the fuel system was genuinely vapor locked.
another symptom it matches is melted/restricted catalysts...maybe- at some point it won't run well at all. |

Well, he made it from Amarillo to Clinton OK today. Car is now running OK. I still think it's a flaky fuel pump that's heating up and failing. I advised him to buy a spare and a socket set, and a spare ICM as well. Testing pressure won't help unless it's during an event. I'm the last one to throw parts at a problem, but on a trip, the rules don't apply.
