Lloyd Floor Mats---The Mighty Taurus was Right
Today I received my Lloyd Floor Mats.
This is a picture os the 96 OEMN mats. They are 17 years old, but still in average shape. I was very happy, and opened the box right away. They are indeed an upgrade from any other Vette floor mats I've seen. I noticed the box came in without instructions, and the mats were not labeled with a driver or passenger tab. Immediately I started to be confused with a bit of anxiety. I tried to install the first mat, and it didn't fit into place. Tried again... Again... Again... By now I needed a break, felt like drinking a shot of bourbon to calm down, but drank a Beck's instead. I grabbed the other one, maybe I had them mixed up. This one fitted better than the other one, I noticed it fit like a right shoe on a left foot. Then I looked at it for few minutes, and realized the floor mats were defective. They fit with the C4 emblem facing down. Tried to installed the other and DeJavu, right shoe - left foot agian. Immediately I turned it upside down, and it fit right away perfectly with the C4 emblem facing down. I was a bit BUTT-HURT. I thought this was a C5 and C6 conspiracy to haze and humiliate the C4 people and called Lloyd Mats Action Center. The C4 people can only call their 1-900-number ($4.99/minute) A lady answered the phone; the first thing she asked was if I bought the DIY package or the Deluxe instruction package. I told her I had the DIY, the lady laughed at me, and stated if i wanted instructions I must pay $49.99 now on the phone using my CC. I did, I had no choice, I was about to have a nervous breakdown... First step was to apply scotch guard. Then she tricked me, she started to talk to me using a lot of directions, angles, and degrees. I bet it was for me to be confused, this way I would NEVER remember how to install these damn things. Then she said; "Stop, stand up, take five steps backwards, turn around, take one step forward, and turn around once again. Now walk towards the car; Are the floor mats properly installed?" I looked, and I was amazed how great the Lloyd Mats fitted the Vette. The same floor mats were now facing up, and on the proper side. Before she hanged up, she said that I was lucky because I didn't buy the Cargo Mat with the Floor Mat set. Three weeks ago a man had massive heart attack when he ordered the DIY package, and tried to DIY the set without calling their Action Center. |

Damn those C5 owners and their conspiracies. You're lucky they flipped around while you weren't looking, I can't imagine how hard it would be to get a refund. Being a C4 owner they'd insist on putting it on the same account as your welfare checks

Holy crap Pete, you must be one of the lucky ones to get it figured out. I have to admit I bought a set for my C6 a long time ago and they're still in the box. When I called to ask how to install them they told me I only bought the braggard box and they aren't made to be installed, only admired.

I had no idea of the mental problems that one could suffer when buying mats! Jon was quite lucky indeed, to survive by having his car towed to a "has-mat" installation facility!
It makes sense though, because when I bought some cheap rubber mats for my old Stude pick-up, I remember having headaches afterward. I was lucky I didn't upgrade to the premium 'cardboard conundrum' with it's cranium cracker aftermath! Pete, you did it right buy using the '$ucker Hotline' and following her instructions to start the mat-magic with a shot of Scotchguard to resize, reshape and refit your mats while you were turned around. Magic works best unseen... |
