Default DIY Window Guides

First I would like to say thank you to Robert Ibarra(VetteUSA). Five years ago he started a thread
with a DIY instructions on how ti replace our infamous window guides.

The Official C4 Corvette Window Alignment Write Up (PDF) - Corvette Forum

Back in 2006 I was driving from Graceland to the NCM, and suddenly both windows made a weird noise.
I think it was the high winds in Kentucky that broke the window guides. The windows always worked, and
I got used to work around it. In 2007 Robert started his thread, posted a PDF file, and I was lucky enough
to save it.

Last year road trip made the windows worse, and finally I bought the guides. Finally today the new guides
are now installed.

I started with the drivers door. removed the panel and all the BS that comes with it.

You can see it is broken in half allowing the window to dance all over the space.

I removed the whole aluminum panel, it made it easier and faster to complete the task. This is the door handle
snap, and it was very friendly.

Special tool

The good and the bad.

Replaced all nylon fasteners. The old ones were like the rest of the C4 plastic; cracked and unserviceable.

Window no longer hits the pillar.

Passenger side.

This one was totally destroyed.

I had to use Robert's trick on the passenger side.

The PDF is no longer available on-line, but I will attach it to this thread for you guys to save it. Trust me, this is gold.

I may need this at some point. When I first shut my door (getting in) the window must not seat right because it will rattle a bit. If I roll it down just a couple inches and then back up it will make a pop noise but the rattle goes away.

Nice. I remember the last time you came down to Escondido, you let me look at something in Betty Boop and I remember how much the door rattled when I closed it. Just figured that's how all GM cars are when they get more than 100k mi on them.

I guess my last c4 and now my low mile 91 were still good as far as the glass goes. I'm glad you fixed it because it sounded shitty.

Christ Pete I swear you know more about the insides of a C4 than the assembly line workers.

Oh yes that was the normal sound. The inner aluminum plate were also looose, I bet that would heinous on The Ghost with that crappy Magnaflow drone.

Maybe, but I do have more fun than they do. They do it for money I do it because I love it.

Warning: Do not go to the movies to watch Cloud Atlas. In my book the super-long movie sucked major ass, wait for it to come out on FX or Spike TV. I kinda wasted my money, but there were some problems with the movie format in the beginning, the theater management stopped the movie for 5 minutes, and gave everybody a re-admission pass.

Pete, would you mind if I dropped my '90 off at your place for the winter?

You'd better explain whether it's Canadian winter or cali winter. I doubt he has room to keep it from August to June

No problem, I would fix everything it needs to be fixed. 11 winter months would be plenty of time to do all the maintenance required.

Note: Winter time based on Friz's Canadian weather reports.

He may be on a road trip or busy at work. Once a month he really earns his paycheck.

He mentioned something about a wallet drain that put the Mustang project on hold.
Personally I think his wife found out about another poodle on the side

If that were truly the case, he'd be here while auditioning for the the soprano opening in the El Paso choir

No, I've never said that. Friz just takes delegation to it's highest level possible. Not even the POTUS is there yet.
