Awww shit we need to make this a 4-some, or even a VB cruise in. Stand by. We need @simpleman68 to chime in with his Florida dates. Hell...I might even have my C8 by then.

Epic track day.

Have you done any open road races out west, like SSC or BBORR? Those are way different from track days, but incredibly fun and challenging. I’ve won the BBORR twice in the 150 mph class with an actual time within 0.5 seconds of my target time.

I could potentially have 4 cars to sample:

2008 Z06 (685 hp)
2009 Z06 (505 hp)
2021 C8 Z51 (495 hp)
2015 BRZ (lol hp). But the handling will BLOW you away.

We could time this with one of my regular track events and make it a sub event for our own enjoyment.

I have not, but I've been asked to be a navigator. I'd LOVE to do that. Shit, I did those speeds coming from Spring Mountain back to North Las Vegas along the north route.

BBORR is way better than SSC. 130 miles on a closed 2 lane highway at 165 mph most of the way is way different driving. A good navigator is a must have. That’s how I got involved in it initially.

At those speeds, you better to be able to see 1 mile ahead or more. The longer I've raced, the further away I can see down the road. Long distance field of vision becomes second nature after awhile of driving at speed.

Yup. Things come fast at those speeds.

The 3-4 cars that run the unlimited class at BBORR every year are insane. If they don’t break down they average over 180 for the entire race.

Fun fact...I've already paid for this outing in full...non refundable.

All I can do is change the date, not that that will be necessary. Mom is on board and looking forward to this. She just wanted to make sure it didn't interfere with the rest of the family coming over for dinner for her birthday.

Shortly after getting my C5, I decided I wanted to see what it would do. We lived pretty close to I-81 so one Sunday morning I got up very early and got on 81 southbound. Cruised down to the next exit checking out the median for state police. Turned around at the first exit and opened it up coming back north. Ran it up to about 145. Shit happens real quick at those kind of speeds on an open road. Luckily no deer or other four legged critters decided to try to cross the road.

My brother and I were in my 1992 C4 heading south on I-75 doing 159 mph at 3 am. We came up on cars in both lanes...I slammed on the brakes and brake dust was igniting out of the front wheels. I was 24 at the time and total douche bag to have done that.

Now a-days, I drive like Ms. Daisy on the street, and go like hell on the track. I can no longer replicate the intense experience of track time with on street time, thus anything that could possibly risk my license on the street is a waste of time. I'm less than 5 over everywhere I go.

I did the exotic racing in Vegas a few years ago... I did the Aventador and the Boxster S... It was a blast... but to be honest, I was really just getting the feel of the Aventador on the last lap... I really should have done a few more...

They had a guy doing hot laps in a C6 Vette that was a professional Drift guy (did some of the driving on Tokyo Drift). Daughter loved it, he drifted every corner (maybe that's why she married a guy who does drifting). The wife screamed around every corner.. LOL

Here’s my thread in C6 Gen over there from the 2013 BBORR, including some photos and a video from my helmet camera of the entire southbound leg.

Thanks for sharing! That vid was pretty cool. Funny to say, but you make 160 look boring.

As I'm sure you're aware 160 is never "boring."

Getting set up for the next curve the navigator tells me is coming never ends on that road.
