UPDATE: The North Central Health District released the following statement regarding Monday’s COVID-19 report:
“Navicent Health has been working to automate reporting of its COVID-19 lab test results to the Georgia Department of Public Health. Earlier today, the two systems connected and the DPH state record system received a large number of automatic reports from The Medical Center, Navicent Health.
“The connection caused around 21,000 electronic lab reports (ELR) to be added to the DPH system. These records include COVID-19 tests with collection dates conducted in mid-June. This data dump has caused some of the case numbers in our counties to be reported inaccurately. While a large amount of the records appear to be duplicates that had been previously reported and can be removed, there are still several new cases.

As I work with COVID patients, have myself had it and am continually updated and educated on the latest specifics on this virus, I share an unbiased, unpolitical perspective. If you feel that is preachy, don't attend my "sermon".


Since my status is one of acquired knowledge and not politics or opinion, I am open to new verified information as it becomes apparent.

From what I have seen there are MANY strains of this virus. As I am seeing more and more patients, the patterns of each strain have helped me know what to expect as the virus progresses.


The patients that simply have a mild sore throat and mild headache or no symptoms at all typically do very well.

The patients that have low grade fever, chills, extreme fatigue, cough and SOB as well as the symptoms listed above do the worst.

There also seems to be a strain that causes a rash and chest pain but no respiratory symptoms.

And yet another that seems to mainly cause GI symptoms.


The crazy thing is the variation and unpredictability of the disease process. With other viruses we (medical providers) know what symptoms to look for to diagnose and how to treat moving forward. Unfortunately, the patients that have gotten very sick over the last 8-9 months have been guinea pigs, as we learn what works and what doesn't.
