Default computer question
Hey all, I bought a computer for gaming and general goofing off about 6 months ago. Win 8.1, nvidea 770, 8 MB ram..anyhow I bought a dvd to watch & since my daughter was using the tv with the ps3 I thought I'd watch it on the computer.....
1st problem..apparently win 8.1 doesn't come with video software..ok, go to widows store & download their video software.
2nd problem..I can "see" the movie on the dvd player (title and all), player lights up when loaded.
Autorun button does nothing, tried to move dvd to video file ..nogo
any hints?

I don't thinkl I have encountered a computer with a DVD already installed, that did not have corresponding software. Maybe what you loaded is now conflicting with existing software for DVDs.

I had the same issue when I first installed Windows 8. Ended up downloading a free program from the internet (not windows store) called VLC media player. Seemed to work pretty well.

Your computer doesn't have Windows Media Player? I agree with others....I can't believe you would have the hardware installed without some means of actually using the dvd function. My Win7 laptop has something called "Cyberlink PowerDVD" that automatically starts playing whatever is loaded in the Blu Ray player.
