I’m working on it. It’s a process. And a whole different mindset and I have to figure out what to do with myself. Not a terrible place to be. I’m kicking some asses around the joint now and it’s kinda fun.

Started at 6am and worked until I stopped for lunch at noon. Back at it around 12:30 and finished around 3:30. No beer with lunch. Waited till I finished for the day.

Same same. I started at 0700 and finished at 1630. That’s 7:30 am and 4:30 pm for you USAFs.

We don’t break for lunch. I made a huge Dagwood to power me thru the rest of the day once the coffee wore off.

Afterwards burned ~300 calories on an incline trainer working up a misty sweat. Nothing major.

Showered and all comfy cozy in my maruchan jammies. Now it is beer time.

That’s a good beer. Buddy and I tried to run our hotel in Acapulco out of it on a golf trip years ago. We didn’t succeed but we put a serious dent in their supply

Say what? I had the same trepidation when thinking about retirement as you. However, given I lived away from the homestead for three years I have plenty to do. Just think about all that crap you put aside while working 5x10 and then just trying to relax a bit on the weekends.

For example, I just did a toilet refurb today; wax seal through the top of the tank. One of the things I just dreaded spending a weekend day accomplishing. I'm now wondering when I will get through the house stuff so I can drop a fly in some trout rich water...

We had one growing up that gnawed the same hole for years and years... Caulk it and he didn't care, killed anything got near his favorite hole, wasps other bumblers. Gave up let him have his spot, he never bothered anyone.

There’s a lot of crap to know and ducks to line up. I knew this, but dayum. We will figure it out and line up those ducks, then bye bye when I feel like it. It’s been fun.

There is a lot to do in this old dump. And it will cost money. Please find me eight cheap 8’ sliding glass doors. We knew that going in and I can handle a fair amount of it myself. I like doing fixer upper stuff. That will keep me busy. My vision is to restore it to its original, unique 1970s glory.

I like it here. Best of both worlds, big city amenity crap when needed and historic 200 year old crap and associated charm.

Oh yeah. It’s a college town.
