Default Any Numismatists here?

My Dad had a fairly significant collection of coins/bills/gold & silver bars etc.

Can you just take them somewhere to get an estimate of value?

Also found this in the bottom of my late grandmothers jewelry box. Pretty sure these are no longer in circulation in Canada

😂

I don't know much, but I know that the grade of the coin or paper bill is the biggest determinant of value, unless you have something that really IS ultra rare. I'd suggest taking some, or all of it, to a reputable coin dealer and letting them give you and idea of what it's worth. They would be giving you wholesale prices, of course, but you could compare some of the offers to what they're selling similar items in the shop for.

Keep in mind that you're probably not going to get retail pricing if you sell the stuff yourself, on Craigslist or some other exchange medium, because, if I'm willing to pay retail, I'm just going to go buy the stuff from the dealer, at his store.

Not an expert, but I do collect.

Gold and Silver bars from Private Assayer/Mints are basically worth whatever the weight is at spot price, perhaps slightly less when selling to a shop that buys Gold/Silver. There is no real collector value outside of the actual metal. Generally speaking.

Coins you have to be more careful. I'm assuming none of these coins are graded, but you should proceed a bit more cautiously and have them checked out by a professional for rarity. Old gold and silver coinage can be quite valuable.

I collect old paper as well, but unless it's super rare, and error print or large denomination, it's basically worth face value, perhaps slightly more. In the USA, bills larger than $100 were last printed in 1934, and they are generally (ballpark) worth twice face value, sometimes more...depending on condition.

Don't know anything about Canadian money, but I would suspect that Canadian $2 is worth exactly that. $2 Canadian Dollars.

Good Luck.

My '21-22 silver bux are worth about 30 bux each......maybe a dozen of them.....so to sell for 300 bux.....not so awful evil......but back when my Father had them, probably only worth two bux each....he been gone close to 40 years now......

too much to examine all the other silver coins......but the funny crap is trying to find a million dollar penny out of 5 gallons of pennies collected over 50 years....

When they were in circulation, the $2 bill was rather rare. When the "twonie" was introduced, the $2 coin became very popular, and still is. The "twonie" was introduced over 30 years ago.
