Off to talk to the middle school principle in a few minutes. A couple of days ago one of the substitute teachers started taking photos of all the kids (6th grade) under the guise of being able to point out any troublemakers. When the kids questioned him, he insisted he had permission to do so. Parents found out about this and freaked out. The principal talked to the sub, made him delete the photos, and got his assurance that the photos were not shared or downloaded.

My wife asked that the sub not come back, and the principle basically said that the guy is a retired teacher that was fingerprinted and backgrounded before being offered the sub position. He closed with "We will continue to monitor the situation and di trust it was taken care of."

Mama bear is pretty worked up, so I get to go to the school today with a list of over 120 backgrounded and fingerprinted teachers brought up on child porn or sex charges in the last 6 months. I personally think that this is the case of an elderly man making a poor decision, but I am alarmed with the reaction of the school. Hell, some of the moms are talking about getting the police involved.

I think the school should let this guy go, or at the least give him a formal reprimand. I am concerned about how lightly they are taking it.

Hopefully harmless, but in this day an age. FYI, I would not want to piss off that pretty PR wife of yours!

I fly in Monday, but do not get in till 11. Plan on leaving first thing in the am. What hours do I want to avoid the area in the am? If we leave at 6am will that give us a window before traffic hits?

Yes as long as you are north of Tampa by 7:00 you are golden. Be careful and make plenty of stops!

When I was a sophomore in high school my English teacher took pictures of every student in the class and posted them up on a bulletin board in the classroom. At the end of the year he gave each of us their picture; I still have mine.

Also, every year from Kindergarden on they took pictures of every student every year, both individually and as a class. In middle and high school random people also took candid photos of random students which were included in the yearbook.

I don't know WTF happened to our society since then to make people freak out over a simple photograph.

I don't know WTF happened to our society since then to make people freak out over a simple photograph.

A substitute teacher walking in and taking photos of 6th graders with his cell phone is a little different than those examples. Here’s what has changed in our society:
My mom took my daughter to Dicks Sporting Goods to buy a few golf skirts. As they were leaving the store, my kid noticed a guy following and got my moms attention. Just like you see on TV, as they walked faster, he kept pace. My mom felt completely uncomfortable, so she turned around a sprinted back to the store with my daughter in tow. They guy literally ran off the other direction.

Their surveillance tapes show what appeared to be a stun gun in the guys hand. Either the guy was going to rob my mom, or even more chilling it was suggested he was going to try to take my kid. We were informed at that time that the Tampa Bay Area is a large human trafficking hub.

Times have changed since we were in high school, and we need to look at folks actions with caution and concern. That being said, I don’t believe the substitute was a threat after talking to the principal. I believe blowing off my wife with 2 sentences was a poor decision on his part.

There have always been perverts/Chi-Mo's, the human trafficking thing is a huge problem that I would guess most in America are not aware of. There is a bone chilling documentary on Netfix about it. It's common place in third world countries. They abduct VERY young girls/boys and throw them into the sex trade I am talking children as young as 4!!!! If it were not for the sick bastards that get off on abusing kids,we wouldn't have this problem! Disgusting that there is a supply and demand for this.

OK, off my soap box, back to lawn work. Wish ya'll could see how amazing my landscaping is looking. In a few more weeks it will be Southern Living magazine worthy.

Times have changed to where most kids don't respect teachers anymore ... at all.
Kids will have no problem beating down an elderly person whether it be a teacher or store clerk.
Kids will have no problem beating down an smaller or frail person whether it be a teacher or store clerk.
Kids will have no problem teaming up and beating down a person whether it be a teacher or store clerk.
Kids will deny being the culprit and because it's so hard to prove, nothing happens to them....but the teacher has to return.
If the kids that assault somebody are a minority (of any sort), that race/gender card will be played.
Some of these teachers and subs have to teach in sh1t-hole schools.

I don't advocate for cho-mo's, or deviants who get off on kids pics; but the possibility exists that the teacher took the photo's for an innocent reason.

If that pisses you off; too bad.
