Default Explosion go boom near my house

My wife and son were hanging out and we heard a bunch of sirens and then a really loud explosion. We walked out back and were enveloped in black smoke. Giant WTF.

Some kind of trailer blew the **** up on the freeway. But it seems emergency vehicles were already on their way when it went off. Theory is Mexican transport dude blew a tire and kept driving. Tire caught on fire which spread to enclosed trailer. Then something go boom.

But what? Here is a photo of wreckage.

Things be happenen mang.

Where I'm at is so quiet at night the tires of a car can be heard rolling on the pavement a mile away and there isn't a lot of that going on. So anyway, a couple weeks ago I hear someone start up a race bike across town and rev the hell out of the motor before doing a huge burnout at 3 in the morning. Then it sounded like it circled the block smoking rubber most of the way. Then more super loud revs until suddenly... Boom boom boom boom boom… I know gunshots when I hear them Aaaand the bike goes suddenly silent like it never existed... Next thing I expected to hear was a siren but that never happened so I have no idea what that was all about

It was being pulled by a crapped out pickup. I can’t figure out what was in there and how on earth did it explode? You can see the guard rail melted.

It was a concussion type explosion. Rattled the house. When we do big explosions for SFX we use gas and kerosene in a plastic garbage bag with a round Chinese firework with a detonator inserted.

The explosion is loud and fiery but barely any concussion. We set up the explosions in steel tubes to direct it. Usually straight up in the air.

My point is gasoline explosions aren’t concussive. At least movie ones aren’t.

Now, now, boys. It’s true that wetbacks eat nothing but beans (otherwise why would they be called “beaners”?) and prodigiously fart. (Don’t quote me but I think it’s their national sport).

It is also true they stack all sorts of shit including their cousins in trucks like the damn Beverly Hillbillies defying the laws of physics.

I would have to assume, due to all their brilliance, they would know that all Mexicans are highly flammable and could blow at any minute. Stacking them like cordwood would be very dangerous and we know how safe they are on the highway.

Can anyone make out anything in that photo? I think I see a car on top. It looks like a multilevel trailer. Could a 3/4 empty gas tank explode like a bomb?

Look at the wreckage. It’s not just fire. Whatever exploded had some serious force. I can’t help but wonder if it was transporting some kind of explosives or other explody stuff.

Gasoline is flammable, not an explosive. Even so you will hear safety advertisements saying that 1 cup of gasoline is equal to 3 sticks of dynamite. How can this be? Because the vapors are explosive given an appropriate mixture of oxygen and a source of ignition. You could consider a 1/4 full 20 gallon tank as containing 5 gallons of gasoline vapor. 1 gallon = 16 cups so 5 gallons X 16 cups X 3 sticks of dynamite = 240 sticks of dynamite.

No way to know how much gasoline boiled off into that trailer before it ignited. Wouldn't need all 15 gallons to fill the trailer with an explosive fuel/air mixture though IMO.

Watched the demonstration of a 55 gallon drum burned inside a chain link cage once. Don't recall how much gasoline was poured inside the drum but it wasn't a lot. I took cover when it started sucking air. The cage caught the drum when it exploded otherwise there's no telling how high it would have gone. The noise from that explosion echoing off of the opposite side of the river valley sounded really kool

The military uses FAE (thermobaric) bombs as an alternative to small nuclear explosives. The mechanics of this bomb work by dispersing fuel into the air and igniting it.

New theory. A gas tank from a vehicle leaked in the trailer filling it with vapor. The tire caught fire, the trailer caught fire (it was wood with steel frame) then boom.

It looks like a car, a motorcycle and some Atvs in there.

Looks like a zero-turn mower. Goes along with the Mexican theory.

That would make a lot of sense. All those tubes and shit could be rakes and weed whackers and shit like that.

Not sure why I didn’t think of this. Even more likely than gas tank leaking. Dude had gas cans in the trailer. Five gallons of gas, spilled in enclosed trailer is a rolling bomb.
