I might switch to gin martinis !
Is Gin a healthy drink?...
It can help fight kidney and liver disease. Gin is the best natural remedy for kidney and liver disease. Juniper berries help stop water retention in your body, allowing you to pass more water than any other alcohol. This means that more harmful toxins and bacteria are flushed out your system. Who knew |

https://nypost.com/2017/12/31/if-you...-a-psychopath/
If you’re looking forward to tucking into the G&Ts tonight, we have some bad news for you: Chances are you’re a psychopath. According to a recent study, people who enjoy bitter foods and drinks also possess more malevolent personality traits. The research, conducted by psychologists from Innsbruck University in Austria, consisted of two experiments carried out on 953 people. Men and women were presented with a list of foods and beverages including bitter, sour, salty and sweet items. They were asked to rate each item out of six, then given a personality questionnaire to fill out. This involved questions to gauge their levels of emotional stability, “Machiavellianism” (being so focused on individual interests that they will manipulate, deceive and exploit others to achieve their goals), aggression and “tendency towards everyday sadism.” |

So.... Tanquery, Beefeater, or Bombay Sapphire? Stir it with ice (no shaking) in a very cold glass or pitcher, then strain into a proper chilled glass that's had a bit of vermouth swirled in it. But pour out the vermouth if you like it dry. Or, if the juniper in those is a bit much, snag some Botanist or Hendricks. May have to have two of those to get a prescription level dose of juniper. Stick with a lemon twist with either of these to let the taste come through. |

I'm of the opinion that a perfectly served Gin Martini is awesome.
I have sent Martinis back because the so-called bartender shook it so long, I was served a Gin slushie. Not acceptable, would not drink, even with Ispencer534's liver. A proper Martini, IMHO starts with a Martini glass, and a shaker pulled from a freezer, and good Gin From a fridge. The gin is poured over ice and STIRRED, the Martini glass has a bit of Vermouth swirled, then dumped. Poued through a strainer, with an olive placed in the bottom, toothpick optional. Good stuffed olives should be served on the side. YMMV |

Agree 100% on mixing the drink. That is exactly how I do it. Often though I prefer a lemon twist it it's really good gin but I do like olives in martinis. Just not 'dirty martinis'. Oh, and 1 Olive or 3. Never 2 olives. |

Don't like Gin so I will stick to Bourbons and Rum and beer.
