An Orlando teen begged police to call an ambulance late Saturday after shooting himself in the testicles, according to police reports.

"I shot myself by accident," the 17-year-old boy said. "Get an ambulance."

The unidentified teenager was lying on his bed, watching TV and playing with a 9 mm. pistol about 8:30 p.m. when it fired. His 12-year-old sister summoned help by calling 911, the report stated.

"I was trying to tie the gun around my leg," he said, describing the accidental discharge to officers.

The bullet went through the scrotum and lodged in his right upper thigh, the report stated.

A Smith and Wesson pistol was found on the floor of the teen's bedroom in his family's home in the Peppertree Apartments on Mercy Drive. Five unfired cartridges were found in the weapon's magazine, the report stated.

Police are trying to determine where the teen obtained the pistol.

Orlando firefighters took the teen by ambulance to Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, the report stated. The teen's aunt responded to the hospital but police were unable to locate his mother that night, the report stated.

The police department is recommending that the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office charge the victim with unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor and unlawful discharge of a firearm, the report stated. State law prohibits anyone under 18 from possessing a loaded gun unless participating in legal hunting or shooting activity supervised by an adult.

The teen's condition could not be learned Monday.

This is the part I find particularly troubling. So, it is against the law for this same 17 year old to use that 9mm to defend his home against a home invasion robbery? He is supposed to just sit there while a rapist goes at it on the kid's sister because it is only legal for him to use the gun while supervised by an adult?

WTF kind of law is this? And we think the kid is the idiot, here.

I kinda hope they don't file those charges. It's one of those rare cases where the criminal punished himself worse than our court systems ever could. Someone who shoots themselves through the nutsack probably isn't going to be playing with loaded guns anytime soon.

A kid I went to hs with did this at a party once with a .22. I wasnt there, but apparently he had it in his pocket, and was sitting in a chair and it fired a round into his nuts!!

I'm totally serious. The kid was in his own home. There is a law that says a minor in their own home can't use a gun to protect themselves in the event of a burglary/home invasion?

That's like saying that while there are towels in the home, if a kid accidentally shoots himself, it is illegal for him to use a towel to staunch the flow of blood while he waits for the ambulance.
