If this has been going on for a while and you local doctors cannot diagnose then you need to ask yourself...how badly do I want to know what is going on?
Your local doc may be very good with the resources he has at his disposal but does he/she have access to the latest and greatest

Long story short...you may need to leave your home area and go to a facility in a major metro area for tests.

Just a suggestion...

I went thru this night before last. It hurt no matter what I did. I also hurt yesterday, but not as bad. I actually did a stress test yesterday while I was hurting.

I have narrowed my episode down to onions. I had a foot long coney with onions and mustard. There were A LOT of onions on it. 30 minutes after eating it, I was in pain.

Have you been eating onions?

You should keep a log of the foods you eat each day. After a few attacks like this, you may be able to find a pattern.

Have you been tested for the Celiac? If you have an intolerance for gluten, a meal high in gluten can cause major discomfort. And it wreaks havoc on your immune system, making one feel drained. Celiacs are also chronically known to be anemic, due to malabsorption of nutrients, exacerbating the 'worn out' feeling.

An initial blood test can be done to check for abnormal levels of endomysial and anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies. If these levels are high, they'll do a small intestine biopsy.

Anyhow, keep track of what you're eating. You've got nothing to lose, since the docs can't seem to figure it out. Also, it's probably a good idea to get to an ER at the time that the symptoms are happening. Better chance of diagnosis.

Spence, your symptoms sound very similar to my wife's. She's had it most if her life - fortunately, less often than when she was younger. She traced it to certain foods like raw vegetables or bananas, but the trigger foods have changed a bit over the years.

No diagnosis for her, either. It used to happen about every 60 days or so, now only about 3-4 times a year. The pain is debilitating. When it gets real bad, she also gets an intense headache.

A bad episode totally wipes her out and she sleeps like the dead for 3-4 hours. When she wakes, the intense pain is gone, but she's disoriented for a couple more hours.

Sounds kind of familiar? I hate it because there's nothing I can do for her...

That's what I was going to suggest.

It sounds like something I had once. I ate some yogurt and drank some heavy milk, and it subsided.

I sometimes get a cramp in my stomach that will double me over in pain, and like you said, no matter how you try to position yourself it just wont go away..But for some reason after a good poo or a fart I feel better.

It's caused by a lack of beef.
