Default Well 1 of 19 nearly or completely destroyed :-(

it is at the very least in limbo...I've debated whether to post or not, but since I was never going to sell anyway, I don't care if people know, plus if I was ever to sell, I would disclose anyway. My beautiful '90 ZR-1 was reduced to a pile rubble a couple of weeks ago, as my son must have been driving it like he stole it, entered a sandy corner that falls away a bit, way too hot, jumped the curb, slammed an immoveable metal pole, spun around, jumped the curb again coming to rest blown apart.

Luckily my son was uninjured so I can kill his f*&^%$# azz.........
I have a friend who says he has fixed one with nearly the exact damage, and it is just a matter of back halfing the car. he has convinced me to fix it if the numbers work out, I do not have the buy back number yet........this is what my gorgeous Z was reduced to and before pictures

Damn Jim! I liked to give you crap about C4s, but that was a nice looking car. I'm sincerely sorry to hear this.

Ouch... Bet he gets a limp now.

Good luck with the repair of decide to go that way, when it comes to that much damage it's easier to replace IMO if you can find one of course.

Damn! That's a shame, the bright spot is, the one thing you can NEVER replace made it out of that safely. Frankly, I'd just consider it a loss, collect the insurance, and move on.

It will forever have a salvage title.

TY.....I think even most people that don't like em, liked this one. I was nearly done with it.........big brakes, and an engine upgrade were on the to do list.
If I can get it back cheap enough, it will just be a little bump in the road I guess.......pun intended.

At least your son is OK ( well, until you get hold of him .... )

A good body guy can make the repair almost good as new. Good luck

Holy crap!

I know you loved that car.

I’d let it go and find another….and never let your kid drive one of your cars again.

Hopefully it was well insured. For what it would cost to repair, I think I would just let the ins. company keep it or buy back for parts. Biggest problem as already stated, it will now have a salvage title and not worth even half what it would be if clear titled.

Glad your kid is ok, but what were you thinking letting a kid drive a valuable and fast car like that??????

Wow! Glad he survived the accident. That would be a tough call on whether to repair or just get something newer. The idea you want to fix it already says you have a sentimental attachment to it. If the numbers work, go for it. As you stated you never really planned on selling it so the Salvage title won't matter to you if it's fixed right.

Part of me wishes I would have kept my C5 now after it was totaled.

Good Luck with whatever route you decide to take.

Man oh man .. your son is lucky to be alive .. I doubt you could dish him out a punishment that would be worse than what he’s poured on himself.

I'm not terrible on insurance, but a little low.......I had not yet upped the value to cover some of the latest mods.....getting ready to, just hadn't done it yet.........my son is 30 years old, so not a kid, and initially I purchased the car back from the guy I sold it to 10 years to be a father and son project; that sentiment is gone. to your point in the back of my mind I always knew this was a possibility, and I do regret letting him drive it as much as I did. one of the things he will have to deal with, is he will never drive another one, until I'm dead. if he wants to drive one, he can buy his own.

This. That was a beautiful car. I wouldn’t want it after that no matter how well it’s repaired. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Man that sucks. That's a beautiful car, and you're faced with a choice of how to deal with your son who did that to it. That is probably more important than the financial decision about whether to rebuild or take the loss and find something else. The bigger opportunity here is for you and your son to build a deeper bond, and find a way to make something good out of this. Best wishes on you.

Bummed to see this, that was a neat car. Well, if the numbers work out to something you can live with, it will be perfect once again. The big part is knowing someone who can do the work right and it looks like you've got that covered. It might be a shitty "investment", but cars are supposed to be shitty investments.

I always thought the 90-95 ZR-1's had the nicest lines, simple not like the new Vette's. Still one of the best looking engines out there.
