Default Antisemitism

I was talking to a friend the other night, world politics, Israel, etc. For the life of me, I've never really understood antisemitism, and after researching it a bit, I still don't get it. For the most part, it looks like people want to hate Jews just because. I mean, I read all the facets of it, and I'm still like WTF.... Also, I didn't know how far it went back in Germany. From what I read, even in the late 1800's there was a growing dislike of Jews. There was definitely writing on the wall to bail out of there well before WWII. It kind of looks like they will never catch a break.

It's been going on for thousands of years.

The Jewish people work well with each other, promote education and business success and are heavily involved in banking.

The Lazy, Dumb, Incompetent become jealous of their success and dislike them because of their own personal failing. It's class warfare with an added level of Religion. It makes it easier and less painful to hate them than yourself or your idiot neighbors and politicians.

And the Jews bring it upon themselves in one way. They have through history kept supporting socialistic and far left principles. It always amazes me that the Jews of the French revolution and Russian revolutions fate are forgotten by Liberal Jews in the world today.

They are always the first to be put up against the wall because they really believe the crap they say.

I remember from WAY back in screwal daze And knowing many Jewish friends....some comments about the Ashcanazi ? region of eastern Europe that somehow adapted Judaism as their religion for some regional political/power reason or other......but supposedly it's rather different than the native Jews from the M/E regions....IE, IsREAL......

I certainly not an expert on this, but did read something on the .net a short while ago about this....but the article went on for many pages, and honestly I do not have the time/patience to read that much.....

FWTW.....there is some fair amount of Jewish background in my family.....

which is kinda funny in they are all liberals, and I make Uncle Barry Goldwater look like a communist.....many an interesting conversation over the decades.....

Some of it may go back to the Nazarene who was crucified. Yes the Romans did the deed. But at the political pressure of the Jewish High Priests, who were only looking to continue their power, wealth, and influence.

After the death and resurrection, the disciples traveled west to spread the word of Jesus. And Christianity was born. Many generations followed and much of Europe was ignorantly taught the crucifixion story and became hateful of the Jews.

Then of course there are the Muslims who despise the Jews. It goes back to Abraham. And his sons Ishmael and Isaac. The Arabs believing their lineage comes from Ishmael. The Jews believe their patriarch being Isaac.

Who knows Maybe I'll get the answers when I get to heaven.

I still find it odd that this kind of hatred can live on for so long. I was reading the news tonight and the article was something of the nature of "dislike of Jews in Europe grows". I think, knowing history, if I were Jewish, I would be getting the hell out of Dodge and to somewhere more friendly. Obviously, that may not be an option for most, but once again, it looks like there is writing on the wall that things could get bad again. Crazy world we live in...

Back in the day, Jews were used as tax collectors. And guess what....tax collectors aren't popular people, even today.

Ancient Tax Collector (Bible History Online)

Another reason might be a failure to assimilate in the communities they inhabited, throughout the years, in the same way we see Muslims in America wearing their hijabs and purposefully not melding with the cultural norm. Then there is the question of loyalty. Remember when JFK was running for president? People rightly wondered whether his allegiance was to the USA, or was it to the Holy Roman Empire and the Pope? Look at Rahm Emmanuel. He's a dual citizen of the US and Israel. Where were his loyalties when he was O's Chief of Staff?

I'm not saying any of that is right(except the dual citizen thing....Rahm, Ted Cruz....I'm looking at y'all), but I can understand it. After all, I doubt people who work for the IRS are popular at parties.

I'm agreeing with mrvette. Mark your calendars, people. I used to think our Muslims were here because they were fleeing the BS from their home countries, but it seems that a significant portion of them are here to bring the turbulence here, instead of leaving it behind.

Germany is leading that movement. Why might that be? First, Germany is still being taxed for "reparations" from its behavior in WWII. German taxpayers send plenty of money to Israel each year, plus goodies like submarines and warships. When is enough enough? Looking at the root causes of WWII, a significant factor was that the Germans were being taxed for reparations after WWI. Yes, they deserved to pay in both instances, but you can only tax people into submission for so long before they revolt. Hitler promised the Germans that they would no longer be Europe's whipping boy, and they bought that message.

I think what we are seeing in Europe is a lot of kids who are tired of paying for the sins of their grandfathers.

And of course, Netanyahu can share in a small part of this, by fanning the flames, calling on Jews to leave Europe. Why should they? They are part of the countries they live in. They have as much right to live in Europe as anyone else, yet Netanyahu seeks to cut them out from the herd.

I have European ancestry. If leaders in those countries called on me to move back to Europe because I didn't "belong" in America, I'd tell those leaders to pound sand, or worse.

Decades ago the kids mom and I went to her HS reunion, and one of the clowns there was an IRS agent, and he was laughing at how he actually enjoyed persecuting anyone he could, and the way he said it....yes persecuting fits his attitude rather well.....little bastard.....

too long ago, I have NO recollection of his background....

What disturbs me is people who think that because someone doesn't agree with the current politics in Israel, they must hate Jews. Talk about playing the race card.

As a child growing up in Baltimore and Alexandria, I was exposed to hearing plenty of hatred of Jews from adults. I just never could understand it. there were a number of Jewish kids in my neighborhood who I considered to be good friends. They really didn't seem to be any different than my family, except that they had different religious holidays and practices. No big deal. I could not criticize another religion as long as the one my family belonged to (Catholic) went to church every Sunday to perform a cannibalistic ritual.

I feel the same way about blacks and slavery. It sure as heel wasn't genocide, so maybe it's time to stop playing that card.

My Father was in the insurance business, clients of ALL types, so no way in hell he discriminated against anyone.....that would cost $$$$ and sales.....

he employed all, white, black, Jewish, no matter,

BUT one year some fancy golf resort said a black agent who lead production in the agency could not come to the resort to collect his company awards, because the resort did not admit blacks......Dad raised such a stink with that shituation, the resort was actually forced into changing policy, AFTER the pullout.....

It was one of two resorts, I can't recall which one....Greenbriar or Homestead.....
