Don't hunt wild boars with ear protection...
They're all good, but go to 3:20 for why you shouldn't hunt wearing ear protection:

Even domesticated hogs can be dangerous when they feel threatened.

Or if they're hungry. I grew up on a farm and learned early in life not to "slop" (feed) the hogs inside their enclosure. It's a sure way to get trampled and killed. Then the hogs (though domesticated) eat you.

Pfft. Our wild boars in Texas don't wear hearing protection, 'cause that's how they roll.

When it is time to put one down for food, they are usually pretty careful to tie one up pretty good before any knife action, and often tie the mouth shut too, as it helps keep them quiet while they bleed out. With the big ones, it takes a few ropes, about 6 or more men, and a plan to take one down with just a knife. I posted these pics a few years ago, here was a big one they took down one night for a wedding party. Since this one was way to big to just hold down, they had it caught up in ropes, and would take stabs at each side, while another guy would get its attention from the other side, then reverse and get him from the other side. This biggun put up a good fight and took awhile to get him down, it was obvious that it was dangerous and would have hurt, or possibly killed anyone there if it had the chance. |
