Last week a strained back....
And a pall bearer today. My weekends have not been on much of a winning streak lately. Could barely move last weekend, and have to help out my buddy Rick (the one who died in May) since it was his Mom that passed Thursday night. Of course my good friend is gone, but this is the least I could do for him. His Mom passed at 82 years of age, but had been battling health problems for a while. Hope against hope, I can go a minute without a funeral. The last couple of years have been on a tear in that regard.

A couple of years ago I lost one of my oldest and largest friends. I was on the back corner and another friend was across from me on the other rear handle. We were already struggling with the weight and the bitter cold that day when my friend slipped and I was left with the full load. It took about a month for that pain to subside. His loss is still with me though.

Here's the obit. She outlived all but one child. I know in the end, that took its toll too. Everyone called her "Granny" including me.

Sorry to hear
I clicked the "thanks" on the obit since I felt if she earned to be called "Granny" by non family ( relative ), she was a good lady. |

She was, and today was the suck. There were several pictures of her with my buddy Rick (her son) and that really got to me. Since I was a pall bearer, along with my oldest son and one of my neighbors, the funeral director asked us if we were family, and we told them neighbors, but the family, in about .02 of a second, said, no, they are family. I guess when it boils down to it, in many ways we are. Life is tough sometimes, but it goes on.

Thanks man! It's all good. Just takes a minute to digest things. That said, at 0630 in the morning I will be at work. I will say that this past Friday was good. 3 of my long time military buddies retired, and there was a gathering out in town. Saw a bunch of folks I hadn't seen in a minute. After that, a good portion of us came back to my house, threw down a bunch of beers, and rehashed stories from deployments etc. and had a lot of laughs.
