Success! I've stopped the Indian scammer phone calls!!!!!!

Ordered a new home phone system that promised to block scam robocalls. Got it installed this morning and....success! It works!

The system works thusly: before a call rings on my phone, the caller gets a message asking for them to state their name, then press the pound key. Once that's accomplished once the call has been screened as a live person, not a robocall, the phone rings, announcing the name the caller recorded to get the call to go through. So, pretty much like an automated secretary pre-screening calls.

Once you hear the caller's name, you can then press another button to "whitelist" that number so that person doesn't have to announce again in the future, their calls go through as normal. You can also pre program numbers of people you want calls to go right through.

This is the best thing since sliced bread; I couldn't be happier. I have my phone back and didn't have to change my number. **** you, India! **** your Muslim scammers, **** your dothead scammers. **** all y'all! It's over.

This would be a great gift for elderly loved ones who may, in addition to being bothered by nuisance calls, be susceptible to the Indian scammers.

UPDATE:

Phone works flawlessly, as advertised! Such a simple, elegant solution to STOP robocalls from ringing. It will be interesting to see, in 3 months, 6 months, a year from now, if I'm still getting the Indian robocalls.

We use "nomorerobo" a free service for land lines. We still get one maybe once a month that sneaks in, but once it's discovered its a scam, it will be blocked.

I've had nomorobo on my landline for years. Early on, it worked pretty good, but I'm getting 20-30 scam calls a day, so obviously it doesn't work, and neither did signing up for the phone company's version of it in addition.

The problem for me is (well, was), they use random number generators to spoof phone numbers, so it's useless to block a number that they've used to call you. You're not actually blocking the number they are really calling from, you're blocking a spoofed, faked, made up number. The next time, it will be a different number. I had a phone that would allow you to block 200 numbers. I used all 200....did nothing, because the people who may have those numbers weren't actually the ones calling.

Update:

I'm down to about 4-12 scam calls a day, according to the caller ID. They don't ring through, but you've got to give it to the Indians.....they're persistent

I just set my phone to block unknown calls. Anyone who's in my contact list, has sent me an email with a contact number or anyone I had a call with will get answered. Everyone else goes to voice mail. Stopped all calls immediately. Once the scammers know your number won't live answer you get dropped from the list.

That's because they have nothing else to do but father children with their first cousins, piss and shit in the streets, eat nasty food that they've prepared in trash cans in alleys, and pick lice out of each other's hair.
