Default Glad our .gov and the VA focus on important things.

Stupid shit like this makes my blood pressure go up. The VA is some of the worst healthcare on the planet, but let's focus and spend money by removing placards with a quote from Abraham Lincoln. Wow.....Gotta make sure the sensitive bunch and transtesticles don't get their feelings hurt.

The Federal government and every agency needs to be burned to the ground and started over as the founders had envisioned.

Actually, most agencies need to be eliminated. Those who work in those agencies need to get a real job producing something of value.

Very sad that our veterans are required to use a healthcare system that continues to decline based on patient assessments.
Pretty certain the quality was much better even ten years ago, but like all other things it has gone to shit.

Veterans should have choices, as many would fare better outside the system.

When my Dad broke his neck in 1974 in a car wreck and became a quadriplegic the VA brought in a top neurosurgeon that saved his life and bought him another 30 years of existence and he stayed in the Hampton VA hospital for 7 years; the VA also paid for my education through the old GI Bill - they may suck now but they didn't at that time.

I haven’t found a good one yet since one tried to kill me years ago. As a disabled vet I’m eligible for VA care. I’d go to a back room Dr. in Tijuana before a VA hospital.

Got wax removal from my ears a few times but for anything serious I'd rather just die at home.

Socialized medicine never works long-term.

My VA in Biloxi, Ms. gives me the best healthcare I ever had. May be due to the fact that there is an Airforce base and a Navy CB in close proximity.

A good friend of mine a Vietnam Combat Veteran has VA coverage and he says it stinks. He only uses it for certain things as he has a good health plan for most things courtesy of the fact he is a retired union Iron worker!

I use it for meds and dental. Meds because there is no co-pay, and dental because they have to farm it out to a civilian dentist. Other than that, it's complete shit unless I get referred outside of the actual VA practice.

My barber is a vet in his 80's. Some years back, he had tx for prostate cancer in Mississippi. Not sure why, since we have a VA hospital in the Texas Medical Center. His treatment was successful, and he and his wife said they were treated with kid gloves, first class treatment. They even provided lodging for his wife while they were there. As to the Houston VA hospital, I was only there a couple of times, when we had a foreman there who had throat cancer from smoking. Since the Army passed out cigarettes during the Vietnam War, they considered this service related. He ended up with a tracheostomy and a buzzer box as he had his voice box removed. Our foreman was....crusty. Could be loud mouthed, crude, lascivious, etc. And the nurses and doc we saw interact with him were VERY professional and caring...to a guy who is known to be a grouch and hard to deal with.

These are anecdotal stories. I know there are still some problems at the VA, despite Trump changing the rules to make it easier to fire bad VA employees.

How he contracted the cancer shouldn't be an issue. One of the benefits I got for joining during that war was permanent VA access. I assume anyone who served during the designated time period also does. How could they not?

I see what you're say but I feel it can be location. I have been using the Albuquerque VA for 30 years. Care for me has been top notch.

I do have issues with the administrative side from time to time but no complaints on actual care.
