I don't know about enforcement where you are ,but in NJ its a big deal. I have been fighting this for 8 years now and have spent well into six figures in legal fees for a bulkhead installation behind my home.

In NJ they have aerial photos from long ago. They match them up to current photos and if there is a difference with no permit, the lien your home. In our case, the builder did so prior to my ownership. The title company failed to catch the lien and we got stuck with it. there is ongoing legal action with the title company as well as NJ DEP.

Before you brush this off, make sure you check, or you have really deep pockets to fight the fight. good luck.

Another yankee that dont know shit. DMR is in charge here and the person requesting the dredge gets the permit. It is good for two years. Now I imagine the company could get the permit it they wanted, but down here, my experience is that they wont even talk to you till you have pulled the permit do dredge. I dont care how the do it in Jersey
