Fact is, I'd own a 718 for cross country trips if I could get away with it. But we bring skis/ boots/ poles/ helmets, hiking gear, four changes of clothes, a cooler, typically a 40 quart bin of stuff collected for our son/ DIL/ grandson, tools to work on projects when we get there, etc.

With the Macan, the back seat folds down and all that stuff gets packed in there. I could never do it in a 718, or a motorcycle....

Not projection at all. I gave you an example that destroyed your narrative, so you have to try a different tactic.

You were offended and threw out the "Manly Motorcycle" thing.

BTW- have you ever taken a long trip on a motorcycle? What's your longest one day mileage on a motorcycle?

Yes it was: a narrative. Same tactic used by the DNC to disparage Republicans.

Longest trip on a motorcycle? Probably Boston to Burlington VT. I took several trips from Boston to Rockland County NY to visit Baby Doll back in the day. One hair-raising trip from her mom's house to Jones Beach on Long Island. I commuted daily from my parents house in the suburbs to downtown Boston for three consecutive summers.

Nope. Not a narrative or tactic. It was an opinion and a separate question. Yes the question had a little dig in there and you were offended.

Question stands…Any reason why you have the Macan and not the Cayenne?

The only thing I dont like about the Macan, my former SIL had a 2015 S, is the hood. You mess that up, its going to cost to replace it.
It drives great. One of the best SUVs out there.
BMWs reputation is not very good, when it comes to reliability.. Too much technology they cant keep up with to save their arse.

You know what pisses me off? About three years ago I went out for a ride. I wasn't going anywhere in particular just getting out of the house. 700 miles later I returned home.

Are you familiar with the Iron Butt Association? One of their ride lists is 1,000 miles in less than 24 hours. I was EASILY under the 24 hour limit and only needed 300 more miles to reach that goal.

I could have gotten that certificate and bragging rights had I signed up and documented that day. But it was just a Saturday ride. Nothing was planned.

You know where I stand, and what I stated is coming to fruition. If you don't believe me, watch the Car Wizard. He's 20 years my junior, but is running into the same issues with German cars I had years ago. Now would be an excellent time to trade it in on something else. It's only going to get worse from here. And you know it.

Safe travels.

For real perspective, come to SE FL, we have Porsche and Audi dealerships with eight-story storage / parking garages, they sell like 100 cars / day.
Their service lounges have baristas and a bakery shop.

Narrative: a way of presenting or understanding a situation or series of events that reflects and promotes a particular point of view or set of values [M-W.com].

Here you are doubling down on a simple mistake. Why not just admit it and move on?

A Cayenne is about $20k more than a Macan. It also gives me a bit more room in my garage.

At one point in my life I had an Expedition. I was hauling my son and I to USSA events with all our gear, Baby Doll was hauling hockey players and their gear to east coast venues. We had a dog and our weekly commute to the mountains with our kids and their friends.

One HS was over I traded that in for a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Now that its just the two of us, the Macan suits us perfectly.

Again, I'd have a 718 if it would fit skis and gear....

The hood is good and bad in that respect. I haven't had an accident since I was a kid (knock on wood).

The BMW was a pain in the ass. Change out a crank position sensor? Set up an 8-foot folding table to put all the stuff that you have to remove to get to it. And the buried plastic parts break 1/2 the time when you disassemble without some high cost special tool designed for that job only.

Want to change the oil earlier than their 15k mile schedule? Go right ahead, but you won't be able to reset the computer to recognize that.
