Here's the thing, she could get one for $5k or $6k more with under 100k on the clock, but that's no promise that it won't crap out before it hits 100k. I almost look at this one as having passed the test of time.
There is a lot of truth to this. I've seen and driven many cars with high miles that are nicer and drive better than the same car with average miles. Any 7-8 year old Cadillac can have expensive issues regardless of the miles. Would you feel bad if you had to replace the engine or transmission, or both? How many owners? If the first or second owner it is likely maintained better than if it has gone through several owners.

I would guess your mom doesn't drive many miles so it might be an okay car for her. Just make sure you are okay with having to put money into it to keep it nice. But, that is the case with any 8 year old car.

The first owner is the one that racked up all the miles. 54,000 in one year. 2nd owner was 22k/yr. Third owner was 16k/yr. My mom will probably put 5k a year or less.

I want the shop to focus on the VVT performance, timing, O2 sensor behavior, and a few other things. This shop has given diagnostic reports to me for other vehicles and they are really thorough including the price to repair what they find.

I've had 2 of them, and my daughter drives my old '15 SRX. I love the vehicle, but I would hard pass at that mileage.

Too many miles for an elderly woman who drives alone. (I’m assuming she’s elderly)

Furthermore that thing is gonna start costing money sooner rather than later.

Wifey has a XT5, solid, four years 80K miles, no issues.
I would buy another, but no ways does this help your SRX pursuits.

Actually, knew a doodette, she was pushing 350, had an SRX for many years, suspension still worked when she sold, so they must be solid.

She bought the car. She loves it. Lots of bells and whistles. We took it to a second shop to get a second opinion on the pre-buy inspection. The second shop said it's in great shape as well. Only thing I had to do to it was replace one license plate bulb and replace the hood strut. It wouldn't hold the hood up. It tracks straight, everything works, brakes well, can break the tires loose (it was not intentional). The sunroof doesn't leak, the tires are good, AC blows cold. All is well, knock on wood. Best of all she is ecstatic to have a nice car for a change.

Welcome mom, to the black car lifestyle! I trust OP has blocked out a couple hours each Saturday from now on to keep that black car washed?
