Default Jeff Beck Car Collection

It is awesome that he built many of the cars himself. Notice a white Corvette.

I saw a McGuires car show episode that featured him. Barry McGuire interviewed him and showed his collection.

Saw Jeff live a few years ago. The sounds he could make come out of a guitar was stunning. Glad I witnessed his greatness once in my life.

Jeff Beck was a hot rodder who was a guitar virtuoso on the side. RIP.

So- Jeff Beck car story- I went to see Brian may during his solo tour that had neil Murray and Cozy Powell in the band. Trying to meet Brian, I arrived 10 hours early at the venue and waited. Around 2:00 pm a car pulls in with Cozy and Neil, and there was nobody to let them into the building, so I ended up chatting with them for over an hour. Cozy was a huge car guy too, but lived for his Ferraris and road racing. He had been in Jeff's band early on and played with Rod Stewart there also.

At the time, Jeff had done little music for some yeaars, but played guitar on Rod's current album. Single was "People get ready". Then he agreed to go out on tour with Rod, starting in LA. The record label pushed hard that he was on the tour, he played two shows and then quit and went back to England. Rod and crew ere PISSED at him. Cozy explained by saying that he signed a contract that paid for transportation of all his gear (two containers worth) and he could leave any time he wanted if he didn't like it. So he did the tour practice in LA for a moneth or so, then LA and Sacremento shows. Turned out, he had a yellow 32 Model A hot rod he had built in LA years before, and then sent to his favorite interior guy in Sacramento. It was finisshed, and it just so happened that Jeff's second container was empty, with enough space to send a Model A Hot Rod back to England....

He added that Jeff was a hell of a nice guy, but that his noted guitar playing came very easy to him. He knew enough to smile and nod and not talk about it. But his passion was cars and hot rods, and he loved the small block chevy. Cozy said if ever I met Jeff to just ask about cars and you'll spend the next hour or more chatting with him, but you better know cars or he'll see right through you.

Sadly, Cozy was killed in a car wreck about a year or so later. So at east half that original Beck band can jam together again in heaven.

I always found it interesting a guy who made his living playing guitar also built hot-rods. I wonder how many smashed fingers he suffered that benched his playing for a bit? It had to happen.

Must have, but no big deal. He only put out albums every 3 to 5 yars or so. Tours promote albums, so unless he Tony Iommied his fingers, no big deal.

His car collection is an 'A', the fact that he wrenched them makes it an 'A++'!!
