CCW 9mm.....???
I been thinking of CCW permit recently, unsure why just getting uneasy....
went to pick up some window parts and next door was this gun shop.... so went there and spotted a SCCY (company name) model CPX-1 comes with 2 Mags that make it fit my 3 fingers on the grip....plastic frame, 9 mm and it's only 300 bux plus the CCW 40 bux fee for the course.... then the crap about how/where to carry it, due to spine problems, the rear carry not worth it, the holster will fill out the small size of the gun, the belly position will just make it protrude out from my gut hangover belt at my age.....on the side will be obvious too, even with a sweatshirt on.....and since it's FLORIDA shorts and a T are the uniform of the day.... any thoughts by CCW guys who carry most/all of the time??? or is it just a waste of time and $$$$ |

I bought one of those recently. 500 rounds so far and it goes bang every time. I paid less than $250 for mine brand new though. There are holsters available to hide the thing in your underwear... not the easiest place to access in a hurry, but an over the road trucker friend carries a Ruger 2" .357 in there all the time. I just use a Fobus IWB made for a Glock 19, fits OK.

i carry a Sig P320 9mm (17+1) full size. have also carried a HK VP9 (15+1), and a Beretta PX4 compact 9mm (15+1).
get a good gun, get a good holster, learn to use them safely, carry them everywhere you go. and use quality ammo that has passed the FBI barrier penetration tests. you might have to change what you wear to conceal your firearm. |

Glock 43, IWB at 4 oclock in single clip SHTF Gear holster. You need a good gunbelt, too.
My rig conceals perfectly under anything that isn't tight. |

Never shot one but from what I read they are a decent piece. For deep conceal I carry a Kahr CM9 in a IWB Galco leather holster. It conceals well, even with a tshirt. It is more expensive (around $400) but a higher quality firearm.
As DAB said invest in a good belt and holster. It will make all the difference in the world. Remember in Florida it MUST be concealed. I have it on in this pic with my shirt tucked in. I am on the right side of the pic. If you blow up the pic all that shows is the black plastic clip on the right of my belt buckle. Hides very well! |

I like my S&W M&P shield. Mine is .40, but you can get it in a 9mm. I sent you a picture of it a month or two ago.

What I carry depends on what I wear.
In work clothes (dress slacks, button down shirt) that don't conceal well and don't give good access to an IWB holster due to the tucked shirt I will carry just the LCP in a pocket holster. Not the greatest choice, but it should give me enough time to GTFO if a situation comes up. In my "street" clothes, jeans, etc I will usually carry 1 of the larger frame pistols... depending on my mood (some 1911 based, S&W 910, or the recently purchased m9) The truck gun has historically been the 910 but will be the m9 going forward. The nightstand has the 1944 Remington Rand WWII bring home 1911A1 in addition to the Mossberg 500. If it's good enough for soldiers in battle, good enough for my bedroom. 9mms use Federal Premium HST 124gr. .45s use Speer Gold Dot LE 230gr. 380 is Hornady Critical Defense. A few of the above mentioned: |

if you want 9mm for CCW... look at Glocks "single stack" model.

I got my wife one of those a couple years ago, she loves it. Solid little pistol. I'd like to look at that Glock 43 though, I do like my Glocks. Also for any CCW or home protection gun I recommend night sights, and if it's home protection only a light also.

When going to the city or other potential bad spots I carry a XDS.45 in a IWB holster.
Now to answer your Florida type question, I also have a S&W bodyguard .380 loaded with good High Performance ammo. I use a pocket holster and that sucker is undetectable wearing just a pair of short pants. I mentioned short pants in particular as then you do not have the option of a ankle holster It would take a pat down or a pass threw a metal detector to spot it. A shirt is not needed to well cover. Yes a .380 is a bit small but its quite concealable and with the right ammo will certainly get a bad guys attention! It is the gun and holster I take with me when I got to sunny Florida because its so well concealed in that climate, and yes I have A Florida Concealed weapons permit! .

That is WAY too big for a gun with that little stopping power. It's bigger in absolutely every dimension than an LC9... and holds less. Hell, it's almost as big as my Colt Defender in .45 ACP. No thanks. Not feeling that one at all. |
