Default Gun folks..300 Blackout

Thinking about building one. Opinions, likes, dislikes. I know the ammo is a little expensive, but it will settle down when it becomes more mainstream. Looking for what type of uppers you are using too. I'm familiar with most, but curious as to what you all might be using.

I'm doing .223 / 5.56 in the above link, it'll be the same except for larger bullets

In practical terms it won't do anything the 7.62X39 won't do for 1/3 the price. It seems to me the answer to a question no one asked; except I suspect Uncle might have had some input looking for a more effective mid caliber round???

Unless you're running suppressed I don't see the point myself.

That is the direction I would like to take with the subsonic rounds.

No, I don't reload, but have a friend that does. It might be more of a novelty than anything else. Suppressed looks like a ball of fun. I'm just tossing the idea around.

If you're just looking to have some quiet fun build an upper in a pistol caliber. Get a threaded barrel for your favorite pistol and swap back and forth... twice the fun for one cost.

This is where the platform becomes picky. Setting the weapon up to run reliably with super and sub can be a bitch. Do yourself a favor and buy an adjustable gas block.

I just got my Form 1 back for an LMT lower. Right now the plan is to get the MRP upper with a 10.5" 5.56 barrel and buy a spare 10.5" barrel in 300BLK. I don't have a suppressor right now, but hope to remedy that soon.

I have had the MRP system before and have two friends who currently run it. One has both the 5.56 and 300BLK barrels for his. Last time we shot together he was shooting steel at 100 yards switching between barrels and had very little POI shift.

I'm starting to think the 300 blk may not be a great idea after reading the posts. I have AK's, but like the feel of the AR style rifles. It might just be more of a novelty than what it's worth. Now what to do with my unbuilt lowers?? I have a few things in mind, I'll see......

Pistol format with the SIG brace. All the SBR goodies with no tax stamp or paperwork.

Suppressors arent cheap, with ATF stamp and suppressor. I would suppress a 308 caliber before buying a 300 BLK, unless there cost comes down.
I hear this is the Militarys new round they are looking into, as you only need a few changes in the M4 to accommodate it.

The dumbasses who run our military need to get their heads out of their asses and buy the tooling for the M14 back from the Taiwanese who got a fire sale deal on perhaps the simplest and most lethal combat long gun ever devised. I don't care what caliber you try to blow the 5.56 case out to it lacks the case capacity to remain lethal against modern armor much past 100 yards. Our troops need more horsepower in their issue arms, and we already possessed the mechanism to supply them but establishment thought better back then. Times and tactics have changed since the 60s (surprise surprise!!) and the Clintons ensured we would have only the reserve surplus hold back from their weapon destruction program to serve our needy combat troops today, Remember this as you decide who to vote for in the upcoming Presidential election.

That may be more like it. I want to get my C&R license too. More than anything, I just like tinkering with stuff. A SBR would be all kinds of fun.

American M14's are still widely in production. It's just not advertised that much. Go to youtube, and there are all kinds of videos out there with Army and Marine types turning loose with M14's. It's generally their designated marksman rifle.

They also lowered the standards to get the 5.56 to pass

It went from traveling thru both sides of a steel helmet to piercing one side.
