A whole lot of fine tuning to come. Now I'm dealing with individual desk section heights. For now I'm getting the hardware in, and then I'll get all 18 fired up, and then I tear it all down again to have the floors replaced. Building this monstrosity is a major puzzle.

15 of 18 monitors now functional. 1 failed monitor that I'll have to get replaced. It's intermittent on/off. A 2nd one of them is also flaky. Once I get the other 3 fired up, I'll post a final picture....then I get to tear the entire office down and remove all of the furniture so I can paint before the new floors are installed on the 12th. Very glad I have 2 spares. Hoping the remaining 3 are drama free.

So of the 18 monitors, 2 are bad. I'll swap those out with my extra two, and hopefully I'll be good. Will have to have the other two swapped out for warranty claims.

Some of those panel gaps are more than four pennies. @UniqueDoug would not approve.

This has not been fun with a sprained ankle. Large corner pieces can't be removed. Flooring guys will have to move them around as they do the floor. Got cable modem rewired for all 3 networks and all cables and electronics off of the ground.

Tomorrow is drywall patch and painting, Wednesday is new floor, and then it's time to put it all back together. Good effing thing I took off 3 weeks.

Oh look! A window.

I trimmed off most of the excess shelving on the first layer pieces. Those were where the 3rd row sat. Now, the 3rd row being on swing arms, the shelving got in the way of good alignment. When I put this back together for good, I plan on making the wiring and the mounting extremely precise.

With the exception of cleaning the shelves, and continuing to empty the closet, the office rebuild is done.
  • New floor
  • Freshly painted (both walls, and door, and trim)
  • New hinges and locking door handle in satin nickel
  • New closet doors
  • New structure layer for monitors
  • All 18 monitors working perfectly
  • Cat-5 wall wiring all functional again
  • Notebook station re-established
  • Place for the work laptop established

Dear GOD Gene, this has been discussed ad-nasisum. Virtual machine for programming takes 4 monitors, remote control of my own notebook, and my work notebook take another 2, multiple email clients are spread around, family chat, home security, blah blah blah, everything in its place. What I need is always where I need it. I don't have to hunt when I get an alert, I just turn my head. This setup gives me back 2.5 hours a day vs. a single screen.
