If you're refering to the gas door itself, I did the following.

Cut the hinge assembly from the back of the gas filler door. Ground the back edge the filler door and the recessed area of the quarter. Then used the 3M SMC panel adhesive to bond the door into the gas filler recess. Finished everything off with SMC filler. Sanded, primed and then painted.

Drank 6 beers, got a really cool idea.. Cut the hinge assembly from the back of the gas filler door. Drank another beer, while thinking "WTF did I just do?". Ground the back edge the filler door and the recessed area of the quarter. Drank 2 more beers, cause grinding is thirsty work.. Then used the 3M SMC panel adhesive to bond the door into the gas filler recess. Drank another beer while waiting for adhesive to dry.. Finished everything off with SMC filler. Drank another beer, just cause it was the last one in the fridge.. Sanded, primed and then painted. Waited for paint to dry, then went and got more beer.

Now we know where the filler relocating idea came from.

That's close

Actually Lowcash and FRC Joe were my sounding boards for this mod. I started cutting as soon as they left the barn

By the time I got back to NoVA Gary had sent me a pic of the hole in the door jam and the fuel door mocked up for bonding.

The 'funny' part is he just finished (a couple days before) buffing the quarter panel and it was super smooth (as expected) then he had to strip it down to bond the fuel door in.

It's what he does.
