Default Buy.....American???

Mustang: A symbol of all American muscle since 1964!

So I have the 17s from the Ecoboost dismounted for a deep cleaning and as I scrub I notice the Hankook tires are made in Korea. OK, global economy and such; at least they are a trading partner and ally.

Then I notice cast right there in the inner wheel spoke... MADE IN CHINA.
I cannot describe how disappointed I am about that... they won't be on the car very long.

Not really. I am disappointed that Ford chose not to utilize suppliers that are a bit more... sympatico... with our country. It shows me once again that corporate profits beat any other consideration every time. Beating a dead horse I know but it just pissed me off.

I knew the Hankook's were Korean, but I had no idea that Mustang wheels came from China. Disappointing. They buy our scrap metal, haul it to China, reprocess it, and sell us Mustang wheels.

I'd be more concerned with the Ecoboost and your man card.

310HP from 2.3 liters bone stock. Equal to the modular v8 in the last generation GT. It is quick for a sub 30k vehicle, is quiet inside, has great road manners and returns 30MPG on the highway.I DGAS what anyone else thinks of it; I am the only one who has to be happy to get in it every morning... and I am.

The vast majority of people want cheap with little or no regard to where something is made. They bitch about China and give lip service to bringing manufacturing back here, but don’t realize prices on almost everything will go up, which they’ll whine about. Manufacturing outsourcing to cheap countries was driven by consumers, not companies.

I think Ford is struggling for survival these days. The shareholders don’t give a shit where they source parts from as long as it’s cheap.

Some buyers do. Most don’t. Even if you do care, what can you do except not buy a car with parts made in China - which would probably rule out every car sold today?

Most of the Mustang is made in Mexico.

I remember several years ago 60 Minutes had a family of 4 go a week without buying anything made in China. Couldn't do it.

That little experiment would take a LOT of effort I suspect.

The C5 Z06 wheels were from Italy. Most of the electronics were from Mexico. This was from 2001. So, it’s not like it’s something that happened overnight.

I don’t mind international trade, but things that can hurt us like medical supplies and telecommunication electronics..... I hate to say the word protectionism, but, it has just been proven bigly.
