It's true firearms are illegal in the P-I. Yet, you go to plenty of homes and the residents have weapons. Whether they have them legally with a corrupt pay off or just have them illegally, the people have plenty of weapons.

I've been to Manila a few times for work. It's a short trip for me. I really enjoy going there. Mostly because Manila has the closest Taco Bell to me in Quizon City. Damn I miss the Bell Beefer haha.

No real good places near the airport. Stay in Makati a much nicer area. If you want to party stay in Malate.

When it comes to the Filipina's. Be careful, there is a reason they are all interested in you. Most won't even ask for money. They are in for the long con. Enjoy your time there, don't get too serious.

Guys at work married to Filipina's all have nothing but good things to say about their Filipina wife with some warnings for what I should be looking for.

This might be a one time trip to the Philippines, I have been wanting to visit for years.

I was communicating with my sister unit at Clark (Combat Comm) when the mountain blew up. I was planning a trip back in those days but the mountain blowing up and closing of the bases ended that trip.

As everyone else here has said, some are looking for money and some for a way out. But if you get a good woman that loves God and loves you, you will have a good life.

Most of all, have fun while you are there. Some great food and beautiful places to see.

One of the guys at worked asked me today why I didn't go to the bars to find true love in the Philippines, and I used the same line you mentioned, I am not interested in any bar girl. For what it is worth, that applies to girls hanging out in bars in the US or here in Germany now, I know it is a different atmosphere.

Several guys I know go to the Philippines to hang out in bars to pickup someone for a night, not anything I am looking for.

I saw many divorces with GI's marrying a bar girl in the 80's, I guess that is why I was never interested in Filipinos before, but now I know many that are happily married to Filipino wife's.
