The rioters took the 3rd District police station, the cops abandoned their position, fled, and then the rioters burned it down.

Trump needs to send in the National Guard and they need to start shooting to kill the looters, arsonists, and rioters. WTF? This is unacceptable.

How many guns are now in the hands of the rioters? What was in the evidence locker? Now all these rioters are high AND armed. How is this allowed to continue?

In just the last 20 minutes, lots and lots of shots fired. Pregnant woman assaulted resulting in a serious head injury. Fires. Rocks being thrown at police. Reports of groups of citizens standing outside their businesses with baseball bats. Police are assembling and responding in “strike teams”.

I couldn’t watch the whole video of the man being restrained. It was that terrible to me. But I just don’t understand the mentality of destroying one’s own neighborhood.

Its part of their culture!

I would not have flinched if someone would have used deadly force on that cop with his knee on his neck. That being said the rioting and looting of your own neighborhoods is beyond stupid.

Then there's this little WTF...

George Floyd Worked Security with the Cop Who Killed Him

A former club owner in south Minneapolis says the now-fired police officer and the black man who died in his custody this week both worked security for her club up to the end of last year.

George Floyd and now-former Officer Derek Chauvin both worked security at the El Nuevo Rodeo club on Lake Street, according to Maya Santamaria. Santamaria owned the building for nearly two decades, but sold the venue within the last few months.

Santamaria says she did not recognize either one of her security guards in the video showing Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck not far from where they used to work.

“My friend sent me (the video) and said this is your guy who used to work for you and I said, ‘It’s not him.’ And then they did the closeup and that’s when I said, ‘Oh my God, that’s him,'” Santamaria said. “I didn’t recognize George as one of our security guys because he looked really different lying there like that.”

I didn't read any of the above comments.

Hubs is an LEO for 30 years. He said this was a clear case of murder. There are strict rules for restraining suspects for good reason. Larger people do poorly when placed in the prone position with arms behind back and having any weight placed on neck or back, have a higher likelihood of experiencing respiratory distress.

Plain and simple, once this man was cuffed and restrained, the actions of that officer were inexcusable.

I am the first to support an officer or ask for ALL the information to be gathered before making a judgment. But in this case, no matter WHAT happened prior to the 7 minute video of him NOT resisting while being handcuffed ..... really doesn't matter.

It was murder.

True but what did happen between that video and the one showing him on the ground does matter. Did he get combative or aggressive resist? The full story is not known.

Need to wait for the video between those two already shown to surface. There has to be a reason why it has not. Someone has it.

It would make a difference in what level of murder charge the officer gets. it will still be a murder charge though.

I thought those officers were sworn to serve and protect? Didn't look like they were protecting anything except their own hides. Chicken shits. If those cops had any balls, they would have been spraying that street with lead.

Like my husband said, even if this guy had killed civilians or an officer prior to this, once ANY suspect is subdued, and restraint has been accomplished, they (officers) cannot just hold someone down till they stop breathing. My husband has written protocol on this and understands the limitations. This officer and others present will be lucky to not get murder charges.

Now, had this guy tried to take an officers gun or been a continued threat, they could have shot and killed him. That was not the case.

The looters are another story. Protesting is fine, rioting——- no.

If I was a LEO, I'd be totally pissed at those cops.
A few bad apples hurts the entire LEO community.
What they did in 5 minutes will take years to repair.
It's difficult enough for cops to earn a positive image from the community, then another incident like this comes along.

How do we know that is not the case. Even in handcuffs he could have still tried to get an officers gun or had been combative. As I said, we need to be able to see what happened between the videos that have been shown. Someone has a video of it but there is a reason they don't want to show it. Does it contradict the poor helpless black man story that is being told?

There’s a time and place for everything. Cuffed behind your back and can still access a LEO’s gun ? Do you realize how stupid that sounds ? Every cop carries a non lethal form or restraint, be it a PR24 or tazer. Knee to the back of the neck for several minutes is inexcusable.

I hear you, and I would like to believe there was a significant struggle with this suspect prior to what was captured on video, but even then.... what that officer did, and the other officers allowed to happen, was NOT ok.

Tim said, "I would guess that officer has had issues like this previously" and low and behold, coming to light is evidence he was a supervisors nightmare.

The guy was from Houston. He'd been arrested 9 times in 10 years, two for armed robbery. From 2007 to 2014 he was locked down in TDCJ for the latest armed robbery. That's what the whole "he moved to MPLS to get his life together" actually means. This was not a nice man.

Now, having said all that, what we saw was indefensible. I'm big and heavy like the dead guy. I think it would take a real effort on my part to be able to roll over, sit up, and stand up, all with my hands cuffed behind my back. It begs credulity that this guy could have done that, and even if we go with "well, he was talking so he was breathing narrative, the moment he pissed himself, it was clear he was tapped out. Our man didn't let up though, even after that.

Having said that, the looters, arsonists, and rioters need to be dealt with. Somebody needs to take control, order martial law, a nighttime curfew, and have National Guard willing to open fire on looters, people throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails, etc. Beyond that, emergency laws need to be in place to allow people to defend their businesses....scratch the duty to retreat for the duration of the emergency. And I mean live fire, not rubber bullets, tear gas, or warning shots. The instigators need to be taken out; order needs to be restored.
