Default Talked to dad

He's on his way to get the second virus shot. He wanted to say goodbye in case he doesn't come back...

Anyhow, found out that he received a 3 page form to fill out from the government with terms for paying back his economic impact "loan". I think a lot of people are about to learn the hard way that nothing is free where government is involved.

I got my first Moderna shot yesterday morning. My daughter didn't think I should because I may get more sick from the vaccine than the virus.

I will take my chances with the vaccine. My research found there is only a .03% chance of a reaction from the vaccine. My chance of surviving covid is about 97% according to Louisiana death to confirmed cases numbers. I can't find a breakdown of ICU admits for my age group. I like the odds with the vaccine more than without the vaccine.

Besides, I don't want to lose my sense of taste. I enjoy eating a nice meal.

My wife was one of the first to get the Pfizer vaccine here in PA. She works at the local hospital literally on the COVID floor.

Both shots and nothing went "wrong".

I'll take my chances with the Rona. The shots are not going to keep anyone from getting it, especially as fast as it has mutated. Every time I ever had the flu, I had the shot, and still got sick as hell. People are being used as guinea pigs for this, so not interested. Everyone better go ahead and realize that we are going to be living with this problem for the next year or ten.

Me too. No interest in this vaccine. Call me a pessimist but I have a hard time believing they were able to develop an effective vaccine this quickly.

I'll get it as soon as I am both eligible and can find it. I have had the disease already and I DO NOT want that shit again.

Notice I did not mention myself getting the shots. I'm 99.99% sure I had it late December 2019/ January 2020. I was sick as hell but survived.

I hope my wife isn't a guinea pig or has been CCP compromised.

Why is the vaccine so important to get, why do you have to be tested to see if you actually have the wu flu?

And why do you still have to double-mask after getting the vaccine? We're being scammed, people!

It's important if for no other reason than that is the only way the .gov is going to allow us any semblance of normalcy ever again. And I truly believe there is genuinely reduced risk of infection/reinfection with the vaccine. Yes as the virus mutates the vax will probably need to get periodic updates and boosters may or may not be required.
Testing verifies presence of the virus and rules out things like the common cold or influenza, and gives researchers the vast quantity of genetic sampling they need to not only track the progression of the disease through the world but also to spot those pesky mutations that can only be identified by genotyping the bug. It is impossible to develop an effective vaccine unless you have that genetic code to work against.

There is one consistency with covid and any other illness: big pharma always wins big.

I'll let y'all know if I die from the vaccine.

First human trial was in 2009 for Rabies. Another trial ran from 2012 to 2016 for prostate cancer.

Quote:
The COVID-19 vaccines were rushed and aren’t safe: Fiction

Although the timeline may seem fast, there have been teams of professionals working around the clock to cultivate, test, and ensure the safety of the vaccines. The vaccines have undergone numerous clinical trials, as is customary for all FDA-approved vaccines. The results of the trials conducted thus far have confirmed that the vaccines are not only effective, but also safe for consumers.

The mRNA science behind the vaccines has been studied since the early 1990s – that’s more than 30 years. In fact, mRNA vaccines have been studied before for flu, Zika, rabies, cancer treatments and more. As soon as the necessary information about the virus that causes COVID-19 was available, scientists began designing the mRNA instructions for cells to build the unique spike protein into an mRNA vaccine.

We don’t know the long-term side effects of COVID-19 vaccines: Fact-ish

It's true, we don't have long-term data on the COVID-19 vaccines. However, there have been clinical trials with other mRNA vaccines dating back to 2009.

The first human trial of an mRNA vaccine was in a small group of patients who had prostate cancer. Overall, that mRNA vaccine was well tolerated and had a good safety profile.

In 2013, a clinical trial began of an mRNA rabies vaccine in healthy human adults. This rabies trial was important because the safety requirements for a vaccine in a healthy population are more stringent than those for a vaccine being used to treat a disease. The study ran from 2013-2016, and continues to collect long-term safety data. But overall, this vaccine was deemed generally safe and tolerable.

What we don’t specifically have at this time is long-term information about the COVID-19 vaccines.
