Here's what happens when a 2 year old makes toast. Last time I saw him he wasn't even talking yet, now he's cooking his own meals Imagine waking up to that!

According to the son there was a plastic container sitting near the toaster that caught fire. I think that's what burned the countertop. Probably they have one of those step-stools in the kitchen (his wife isn't particularly tall) that the baby used to get up there . Pretty serious fire, I think if he'd slept another minute or two there wouldn't have been any saving of the house to do. He got a new puppy a few weeks ago and the whining of that dog is what woke him. Check out the bottom of the cabinet -

Looked around the corner into the next room and there's flames 4 feet high! Destroyed a sofa chair, the carpet, and computer desk. He'd found a BIC lighter in the front yard alongside the street and was doing a little experiment

Kid needs his ass whooped.

Between the ages of about 2 and 6, corporal punishment is underrated.

I had no problem whatsoever of whooping my son when he was that age. After about age 2 the look in his eye was one of 'I know I can get away with this'. My answer to that- not so much.

I was the master of the dramatic effect. "You're getting a red bum for that, later. So be prepared." Remind him of that over several hours. Get my wife in the room to help hold him down on his belly. Slowly take his pants down and expose the upper thigh. A single slap on just the right spot, inviting screams of uncontrolled wailing. Pants back on. Hugs and crying.

Don't confuse this with physical child abuse, which is striking a child because you can't control your emotions.

You need to give him a creative outlet. I recommend next time you have him load him up on sugar buy him a drumset and send him home.

Clearly, he's not interested in that kind of activity. Here's one that's more righter for him.

Glad no one was hurt.
I, too, was a young kid that liked fires, but knew to keep it outdoors.

From the looks of it, the kitchen was in need of a remodel before the fire happened. Your grandson was trying to tell you something.

It's his starter house. At least he's not flushing his money down the toilet renting. He'll get something better eventually but there's no sense trying to have nice things when you're raising a family. I must have went through a half dozen sets of tools before I wised up and learned that lesson

My ex wife-from 40 years ago has a brother along with 9 other siblings. One time during a big family dinner or party somehow the subject came up of Ricky who is now 70 yrs old, started a fire in a closet when he was around 8 yrs old.

Dad got the fire out without any problems. He then took Ricky outside and tied him to a tree. Dad then gathered up some wood from the wood pile and placed it all around the tree.

Dad then went and found an old gas can and filled it with water. He called everyone outside and told them all to go say goodbye to Ricky. Mama is standing off to the side doing her best to keep a straight face.

Ricky was crying so hard he soaked his shirt. My ex along with all the others were sobbing away. Pleading and begging dad not to burn him up. Dad walked up to the tree and poured all the fake gas out all around the tree on the wood. Then tore him a new ass again and along with the rest of them

Ricky never messed with matches again or even smoked. I still run into him or his wife every few months. Hell of a nice guy

What could possibly happen with kids playing with matches OUTDOORS?

http://grassroots.pennridge.org/p/p-fire88.html

Burnt a good part of the town. $9M in damages in 1988

Fun Fact, one of the first major stories carried by CNN ( before they became fake news)

I used to tell my kid if she messed up I was gonna "fire up the southside" and she knew what I meant.

I remember when a school teacher told my parents I had ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and maybe some presciption drugs would be appropriate.

My Dad's diagnosis was "daydreaming in class" and he completely cured me with one application of his old Marine Corps belt.

A medical miracle.
