We need to restock food. I do think we will see supply disruption. I’m already hearing of medicine shortages for common stuff. |

Well since I started this thread only 9 days ago things have changed.
Everything that was available to easily purchase 9 days ago is now sold out everywhere. You want a heads up? In two weeks, it may be hard finding something to purchase at the supermarket other than canned pumpkin pie mix. Throw out all that useless old bread and month-old leftovers filling up your freezer and replace that space with meats and other real foods. Just like my main man Trump said: What do you have to lose? |

I was in BJ's the day before yesterday, no shortage of anything. I'm going to the supermarket in an hour or so, I'll report back. My sister lives in the Chicago area. I was talking to her yesterday, and she says the only thing that seems low is hand sanitizer. In fact, her supermarket was sold out of it, but she found it at the pharmacy for the regular price. |

Just got back from the supermarket. Normal crowd for a Friday morning, busy, but not crazy. Their supply of bottled water looked lower than normal, but they had plenty if you wanted it. I didn't see anything out of stock. In fact, I heard two of the employees talking about how they weren't sure where they were going to fit all the stuff that had been delivered overnight.
Made up media panic is made up. |

My Sam’s Club outside Philly was picked over like this Costco in California.
There was absolutely zero anything to do with cleaning. Nothing with the name Clorox/Lysol was left. Bleach wiped out, the pallet of isopropanol alcohol was gone, every 25lb bag of rice was gone and the water and toilet paper aisle were jammed with people. |

Oscar Meyer low-sodium bacon was on sale at the ShopRite this morning, $3.99 per pound, limit 4 to a customer. I bought 4 pounds, because of the Corona virus. |

The problem is that when you want to buy some food 2 weeks from now for dinner those same freaking out people would have already panic bought it all. I’m from an area that when the weather guy calls for 2 inches of snow the supermarket is completely wiped out of normal food staples. Those same crazy people jamming water and TP in their cart today will be grabbing every pack of chicken and burgers that they can get. This panic buying will get much worse before it gets better and it’s just good insurance to stock up now on food, so you don’t have to deal with crazies later. |

For me, this corona virus has really screwed my retirement plans. I was looking forward to retiring at the end of May after I turn 65, but this virus has affected my 401k. I've lost over 15k so far. So I may have to continue working until some stability returns to the economy.
I've already stopped going in to work each Monday on the Amtrak train to Santa Clara CA. I'm one of those with a compromised immune system - I don't have a spleen and I'm over 63. |
