Marianne went thru similar rounds of bullshit for 3 weeks (in the hospital, she had 4 fluid drains thru her back around her heart/left lung) before
being released to home hospice and passing 2 weeks later.
No good for your friend to stop any/all treatments, alternatives aren't great at this point.
But the amount of Drs with differing specialties and remedies is mind
numbing and makes one wonder if any of them read the hospital charts.
It's all right their nimrods!

I guess the most frustrating thing for him is they seem to not know what the cause is nor on agreement for treatment.
Throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks isn't a good plan IMO and is extremely expensive and painful.
One of the reasons he quit goin to Dr's earlier this year was it was Dr or eat and pay insurance and taxes.

Ordinarily that star indicates La. State Police, this was a fairly fresh stamping that was kinda crooked.
