Default Another Window In The Barn

I flew solo on this one except for lifting the window into the frame.
My vision is becoming clearer with this barn. She's progressing well now.

A friend of mine had one slide down a roof from the peak to where he was on the eave and nail his knee cap. The firemen had to snorkel him off the roof, and he was heard screaming for blocks.
The doctor used a special tool to extract it.... A stainless claw hammer...
After hearing that story, and seeing him in a cast for 6 months, I have nothing but the utmost respect for that tool.

There are some boards in the loft from when the barn was built.
This is 1"x 3" true dimensional tongue & groove board that the the loft floor, and the barn ceiling is built from. Look at how tight the grain is.... Old growth red hemlock...

Work looks great.

What's up with the shingles? Where they painted red at one time?

40'x 100'.

I used one gallon of Kilz primer on the area in the pics.... I think that I'm gonna need a bigger paint bucket.,..
The space is just massive. 4000 square feet is a lot of space to cover.

Ya, that's the weather side.
I'm debating whether I'm going to tear 'em off and do cedar shake, or put metal on it..
I'm leaning towards metal. I know that I'm doing metal on the back, but my wife wants "originality".
Screw that, I want "maintenance free".
I'll do the cedar shake on the front for her, but I'd like to do the rest in vertical metal.

I'm with the wife - originality adds ton of eye appeal and atmosphere.

Nice job so far and the that window looks good too.

Be careful with the nail gun, a simple slip and you can screw yourself up bad.

Check with various suppliers to see if they off some type of textured metal siding that simulates cedar shake. That way the wife gets the look that makes her happy and you get maintence free

I actually like the standing seam look myself. I didn't tell her how to remodel her kitchen, so I'm doing the barn my way.
I decided to frame in the other door. I was gonna restore it, but it's too far gone. This way, I'll have a solid corner for a bank of cabinets on the wall, and base cabinets turning the corner as well. I already have them from the kitchen gut.
