The C3 is designed to look cool. Near zero practical or comfort in its design.

It really reflects an era and I like it if done well. Kerbeck had one of those gold C3's in the showroom. That would be an insane color to bring back. All the folks who want flat neon would have an aneurysm.

Luggage racks were a Dealer added option they installed. The factory didn't install them, at least concerning C2-C3 Corvettes.

Some racks are/were available in either chrome or Stainless so they hold up without rusting for decades, SS for ever. There were also some that had a "contact paper" that looked like a "wood grain", on the surface areas. This is the only picture I have as reference and it's Utah quality....A very old picture that came from the previous owners. Hard to see but the paper is still on the rack.

My long-gone '72 had one when I bought it. Never traveled with it so never used it, but it didn't bother me. But if one was traveling it would be kinda necessary.

Beautiful.
And a luggage rack destroys those classic lines.
Makes fuel fill a PITA also if I recall.

All were a "gold" color. The '69 is the most gold looking of them. WB has a little greenish hue....more of a baby shit yellow. The '73 is more like a Bass boat gold lots of metallic in the paint.

My B-I-L had a hot rod 66 Chevelle 396 that was painted in heavy metallic bass boat green. It was pretty awesome. Everyone around knew that car.

I watch a youtube channel called Hot Rod Hoarder and he features a lot of old drag and street 'survivor' cars from the '60's with the bass boat paint jobs with panels, lace, etc. I LOVE that stuff.

I have a '72 BMW R75/5 toaster tank motorcycle and it's color is listed by BMW as 'Curry'. It's a sharp metallic orange/gold. I was going to paint it black 25 years ago when I got it, but am glad I never did. Time to sell it, as I don't ride anymore because cell phones.

C3 is the only version I would go back and buy.

I'm guessing I'm definitely in the minority, but for me it's C3, C6 or C8.

When the C3 was introduced in '68, as a little kid, I thought "what happened?"

I always liked the C1 and C2. The newest Corvette I would own is a 1967 model.

Up to and including '72s (chrome front and back) were great, ahead of their time. After that, all blah until C6.

If money were no object, I'd get a split window coupe and put in the living room. Or a chrome bumper shark (or a Darth Vader shark) to drive. A C5 vert, or a C6 Z06, or a 427 vert to drive.
