My grandmother died two years before I got married, so my grandfather gave me his wedding ring. A very thin, simple gold band since that was what he could afford back in the late 1920's. I wore it since my wedding and never took it off until recently.

About three months ago I was soldering a pipe in a difficult position and a drop went right on my finger, right at the ring. A trooper, I didn't drop the pipe until the joint set. Then I doused my hand in cold water. But my ring finger swelled and didn't go down for at least a day, and the tip was beginning to get numb. So I cut off the ring with a wire cutter and it is sitting in a zip lock bag in the top drawer of my dresser.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with it. Probably take it to a local jeweler, add a bit to it and have it remade.

For me it began as a safety issue and I really don't like that crap.
And I've always thought jewelry was a woman thing.
Same here. Exactly. For the same reasons.

20 years ago an older guy at work got an earring. As he proudly showed it off, another worker said: "two types of men wear earrings. Fags and Pirates. And I don't see a parrot on your shoulder."
All of us except the guy roared with laughter.

Nope. If I had been bequeathed my dad's gold horseshoe ring, I would wear that. Otherwise, no jewelry on me.

I remember something about the right ear vs left ear, a ring in one side means homo and the other side means whatever.
Never cared because I would NEVER have an earring.

Watch. 24/7. I will wear my wedding ring and my Dad's ring (a gift from my Mom on their 1st anniversary) if I remember to put them on when we go out.

100+ year old family heirloom? You have to have it fixed. Not even an option, IMO. Money well spent, and likely, not a lot. Cool story.

A jeweler who is good at repairs can fix it so you would never know it happened. I know because my wife has mangled a lot of jewelry over the years.

Just the Prince Albert. I had to wait a few weeks extra as they needed to special order the larger sizes.

I started out years ago when cab overs were the only long haul trucks you could legally drive on the east coast and some mid western states (length laws)
So. many times you were jumping out of the cab. Many guys were loseing their
ring finger ,getting caught on the hand rail getting out (when wearing a ring).
So, to answer the question NO .

Go ahead and post them up, it's not bragging, it's sharing.

I like the lefty, but still not sure I could get used to wearing it.

Well - I considered a nipple ring once -- figured I could keep my car keys close by attaching them to it with a carabiner; I'm always losing them. Wife talked me out of it

Yes. I have always worn rings. In the past I have had a heavy gold link bracelet that my wife gave me but didn’t really care to where it. Never a watch.

I have a ring that I designed about 25 years ago for a PERFECT diamond that came from my ex-wife’s family. The ring is a sunburst design with a 1 1/4 carat stone with 4 .20 stones around it.

I have a three stone turquoise and silver ring my ex-wife bought off the Navajo reservation 45 years ago.

I also have a 1901 U.S. $5.00 gold piece ring that I bought the coin 45 years ago and had it in a necklace pendant which I wore until that became out of vogue and then had it made into the ring. You can see the back of the coin from inside the ring as well.

These pictures don’t do justice to these rings ESPECIALLY the diamond as it has perfect clarity, color and brilliance.
