In any event, more positive thoughts sent.
They first are using meds and while a little better, I still fall in and out of AFib. Today they just started me on a Heparin drip for 24 hrs in order to set me up for a shock to the heart. Dont know if that's a "cardio convert" or not, but thats whats next.

The bad news is that I doubt I will be home by Christmas...

I feel fukn great and have been making great friends with the nurses. Some pretty cute ones in here but all way too young to want any thing from me...But they are treating me wonderful and always cutting up with me.

So...now I have nothing but time on my hands so I guess Ill hang out in here for awhile a fuk with yall!

Thanks for all the love guys and gals....it really brought my spirits up at a time when Im feeling pretty down in the dumps.

Had the cardio inversion done twice. They shocked me three times the first time and it did not work. The second time they put me on a med for two months and then first hit got the ticker back in rhythm. Been in rhythm for the past 6 months with no issues. The heart doctor is pushing to do an ablasion but I'm not keen on someone burning my heart muscles.

Good Luck Zeek, here's wishing you a speedy recovery. Tell the nurses a little rubbing goes a long way in keeping your heart in synch.

Yup, that's a cardio conversion. I've spoken with many bypass patients in my groups that have experienced the same thing. I'm sure your docs have been forthcoming providing you with information, I know it must be frustrating for you at this point.

Wishing you the best possible outcome.

Well now the Doc just came in an said no cardio conversion necessary.....looks like the meds have finally been adjusted correctly. Still wants to keep me another day or so to be sure.

Cardioversion is when they put a plate in front of your heart and in rear on backside of heart. They say goodnight, give you an electrical shock and next thing you know (about 5 minutes later) they're telling you to get your clothes on. An outpatient procedure. My Afib returned ~2 weeks later.

Cardiac Ablation is when they knock you out and run a wire thru your thigh to heart and shock to eliminate Afib. Don't know why you're admitted and on heparin. An outpatient procedure. My Afib hasn't returned.

I know several people who have had Cardiac Ablation (all outpatient) several times with same result - Afib was not eliminated or it returned about 1 week later. . . and they have a pacemaker.

Both procedures are performed by a Cardiac Electrophysiologist.

Hope this clarifies. Good Luck

IF you're on blood thinners talk to your Cardio Electrophysiologist about having a device called "The Watchman" placed on the tip of your heart.
Again, outpatient surgery and 45 days later - You're Off Blood Thinners!
I've had all 3 of the above outpatient procedures.
