Default hey mustang guys...

Need help finding an OE style disc brake conversion foe my dads 65 Mustang. It has drums on all four corners currently. I'm looking for a reasonably priced COMPLETE kit. Keep in mind his car has 14" rims so they need to fit behind his current setup.

I know there are a few classic mustang owners here which is why I am asking. I know a few of you have buit your own cars. The help is appreciated.

A guy I know just put discs on his 66 Mustang, it was a PITA, because he tried to poor boy it. He found something on the web about using an 80's Taurus disk system (I think) on Mustangs. He bought all the stuff at a parts yard then ended up having to replace just about all the parts with parts store rebuilt stuff, plus modifying the brackets to fit. I think he told me it cost him nearly $600 by the time he was through and it took weeks to finish and get them working. He said it was a royal pain in the ass to do and he wished that he'd just paid the extra for the kit.

If you're going to buy one of those kits, be careful. While I can't speak directly about the Ford/Mustang stuff, but most of those price driven, bargain kits found on on-line auction sites for GM cars are really, really poor quality Chinese junk. No way would I sell them - let alone install them on any of my own cars.

I've dealt with these guys back when I had a Mustang ( '67 Fastback -289 4 speed )

Mustang Parts, Shelby Parts, and Restoration Services

They were local to me, I could literally walk there

Got the conversion and the dual reservoir master from summit. It's going in now.

Spring purches are shot (didn't notice until the install started) so that's being ordered now.

Here's a pic of the one my pop sold right before I bought mine. Façade chopped them together for me.

Love it. Been driving the wheels off it. It sucks in the snow though....
