Elvis has left
the nursing home! I took my grandmother to see the Elvis impersonator who was performing at her nursing home. She has alzheimers but she knew the words to Hunka Hunka Burning Love and most of the other songs. We sang and danced. We were the only two dancing. Most of the other residents are in wheelchairs. It's too bad she won't remember it tonight. But I will!

We have an Elvis impersonator in my town; he's a member of the State House of Representatives, and he's damned good at doing Elvis. He knocks himself out, and he's a good singer.

Keep her going to things like that. Music Theropy is GREAT for Alz patients, I am by no means a Dr, but I have seen it MANY times over.
One of the music orginizations I used to run was a chorus that went and performed for nursing and retirement home, throughout the Hampton Roads area. On so many accasions while talking to staff, residents, and family after shows did I hear that a person could not remember what they had for dinner an hour ago, or the name of the person they have been married to for 60+ years, but they remembered almost all the words to the songs |
