Headed to Maine

Leaving tomorrow AM, for a week, PITA getting there, as landing at logan and doing one-way car rental, only enterpirse allows such, damn drive is at least 4 hours, looks at a flight, but would have to wait 4 hours, and plane appears to be a six-seat single engine--EFF THAT SCARE!!

B-I-L has his 75' tri-level up there, so no damn hotel bills!!
And we fly private back home, he just became fractional owner on a 10-seater, comes with catered meal, maybe I can learn to fly the plane if the pilots are accomodating.

So what does one does in Maine, spending a few days in Bar Harbor, then off to Camden, I am thinking eating and drinking and long naps, but let me know if I would miss something great.

This is one of the few vacations for which I am NOT bringing my clubs, so I will have to do the group time thingy, not really good at this, but I promised wifey I would try.

Probably should have considered it, as the 4-hour car rental is $400, of which $300 is the dropoff fee.
I spent hours on the phone and the interwebby, no car rental agency wants you leaving cars in ME.

Bailey Iland is very nice. Charlie's Lobster House is excellent.
We toured the boatworks in Bath, did Acadia Nt. Park, pretty much stayed on the coast.
The locals told us that Sept. was the best time of year to visit.
Hell, even McDonalds had lobster rolls when we were there.
I like Maine!

Cadilac mountain is near bar harbor and neat if the weather cooperates. Lobsta and wicked moisty's everywhere in bar harbor.

The wife and I usually visit Portsmouth N.H. once a year and drive up to Bangor to visit a H.S. friend of mine. Love New England and might retire up there after the Zombie Apocalypse.

I have never flown private jet, but am willing to take my chances, BUT flying in a single-engine prop fails my scorecard.
The 10-seater is the minimum, based on the availability if his plane is not available, again he is 1/16 owner as travels maybe 26 legs/year currently, they are required to 'try' and upgrade, he recently flew in a G550 or G650, cannot recall which. BTW, the jet will have two pilots, and the B-I-L has enough skills to land if needed.

I will be fine in any jet,,, had one bad experience in a friend of a friends's twin prop many years ago, and would like to avoid that.

Flown that flight between Logan and Portland many times over the years when I lived in Cape Elizabeth, not as bad as it sounds. Used to be a King Air 90 twin with USAir back in the day.

Go to downtown Portland and hit DiMillo's for at least one dinner, great place. Also consider some time spent on the Portland waterfront, great places to spend some easy time in.

What about Manchester NH or Portland Me? I blew off Logan 20 years ago. I just flying into Manchester, rent a car and I'm gone.

Nice plane, I have many hours in it. Only fixed wing I ever flew.
