Default Junior Johnson's Old house

Since I design repairs for about 150 homes/ year on occasion I have a brush with greatness. This house was owned by NASCAR legend Junior Johnson, and lived in by his ex-wife who died recently.

Modest home, large shop building in the back that looks a bit like a ghost town.

Very cool. I remember when Zora Duntiov's house was for sale a few years back. Very cool 1930's house, but in what is now a kind of downtrodden area. IIRC, it was barely 200k, likely a lot less.
My best friend, in the early '80's, worked for Atlas Heating and Plumbing in San Francisco. One of his jobs was for a nice old guy who had an entire wall in his garage taken up by new Mr. Coffee coffeemakers. It was Joe DiMaggio.

You should ban yourself for a month for spelling Duntov's name incorrectly.

Very modest, but maybe not for the time era it was built.

I would be scouting for a souvenir! Maybe a quart jar

Went by Richard Petty's place one time. Very unassuming. He had a small museum up front and the garage in the back. Can't imagine running a championship Cup team out of a barn in the back, but they all did.

Wilkes county tax records date the original construction to 1964. The inspection turned up no moonshine or stills. No tools or equipment in the shops either.

As a young carpenter I had the opportunity to work on several pro sports guys homes in swanky areas outside of Baltimore.
Cal Ripkin
Joe Washington
Johnny Unitas
Dave McNalley
Jim Palmer

Met one or two in passing. No biggie.

I will say, Joe Washington had a very impressive trophy room. Trophy’s and game balls and jerseys and many very cool pictures.
