We decided on Bonefish Grill, been there dozens of times, never a bad meal, always great service. So last night it was AT BEST 15% capacity, from 6 PM until we left at 8 PM, very sad, not sure how the owner can make it.

We "had" a Bonefish Grill here in NM. It did not recover and closed down last year

Walmart and Target said 1/3 of the number of workers compared to last year.

Here we go:

“Some might say we’re nearing a meltdown:
• Butter prices are up ~25% YoY, trailing only eggs — the leading grocery store inflation item, up ~40%.
• Butter in cold storage facilities was down 21% in July to its lowest level since 2017.
Butter producers are telling retailers not to offer heavy discounts during the holidays in case they can’t replenish supply, and some bakers are now hoarding butter to build up their own “butter army” for the holidays, per WSJ.”

Off topic, but I lived in Coral Springs from the late 70's to the early 90's. I loved living there back then. Last time I was thru there was about 10 years ago. It was so over crowded and with heavy traffic, I couldnt imagine living there now.

Coral Springs and the entire county is crowded, getting worse daily, too much damn roadwork--adding lanes.
Thankfully we are out of land, so growth should be minimal going forward.

I have lived in Broward since 1968, things have changed a lot, but pluses still are enough to keep me here, I live as far west as the law allows, traffic can be managed, rule is to never go east of Turnpike, or to downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Were you molested by a realtor when you were 12? You seem obsessed with them. Seek help.

We are stocking up on butter - wife always bakes at Christmas. Pork lions at Costco have stayed at $1.99lbs so we buy 2 or 3 and put them in the freezer. Heck, back in January Walmart was getting rid of the excess frozen turkey breasts, think I bought 20 @ $0.50lbs. Deer season coming up and we are making room in the freezer for 2 this year.

Yeah, food inflation is running rampant, but when was the last time the potato actually bought any food? 50 years ago?

I've a 4 year supply of butter in the freezer. That's 400% more than I usually keep on hand. Probably better than money in the bank these days... Can't eat money.

Winter Garden near Orlando has turned from a quaint citrus industry trailhead with an "old Florida" feel, to a congested metropolis with 4-5 story condos/apartments going up on every square inch. Every nothern refugee from the blue states has decided to move to the area because of the weather, polticial freedom, recreational features, low crime, etc.. Most are dolts who bring their liberal attitudes with them and will transform the area into a replica of what they left and then whine about what has happend.. They complain about wildlife, particularly alligators like they moved to Jurassic Park, guess what ? Florida lakes aren't koi fish ponds and you're not the apex predator when near them.

Its sad and inexorable..

I take a perverse bit of joy from seeing them all panicking because of a pending hurricane sitting in their new shoddily built ticky-tacky subdivsions.
My house has been through 6 and never lost a shingle...

Looking at my various 401ks today, I notice that one of them I have is at
the same $$ value as in 2009, when the economy tanked in fall 2008. No investments added to this acct since 2009.Obamalama took over in 2009, I lost my job in Jan '09 (exported to India).
Eventually the funds increased ~19%, but started tanking in Jan. this year.
I have 2 other 401ks that are pretty close in loses.
Thanks putz.

We were talking at work about the economy last week. Since moving here to Iowa I've kept an eye on the car dealer lots. They were very sparse when we moved here 3 months ago. Fast forward and the used car lots are near capacity, new cars are hit and miss. I look at this and the houses how long they sit on the market to see how soon the economy is going to tank hard. It won't be much longer for potato head.

First positive thing I've ever heard Yaddie say about Florida. Or should I say neutral thing.

I left the SF Bay area 20 years ago for my job and relocated to central CA, which reminded me of the Midwest, with like values and landscape, albeit with a Sierra Nevada mountain backdrop. I could and would never move back. Twice as crowded, and downright anti-white person. Hostile.

In CA, the construction going on is a 120 billion train to nowhere and removing already heavily trafficked lanes and replacing them with bike lanes nobody uses. So, once-well-flowing routes are now cluster****ed. CA, next to Mass and NY, has to be politically the worst state in the nation.

And we are usually somewhat insulated from the peaks and valleys of the economy.
