At $ 10 for one 40W bulb that lasted a year and a half, I don't think I saved any net money because of electricity conservation.
Because China; been there. I've also had better quality ones that outlasted the microwave, and are still working in my refrigerator.

LED's

Auto: OEM work great. I have had some aftermarket, notably cab lights, that burned so hot that the zorched after a year. Actually followed someone into a gas station last Friday to ask what LED/Halo headlamp kit they had on their 2011 F-250 as it was awesome.

Home: Great. Only a few have failed out of many after 5 years. These are almost all 2nd gen or later as the first gen did burn hot and most were no more than a couple years best.

Generally: The industry has advanced greatly. I will likely no longer buy a utility bulb in any format other than LED. Decorative bulbs, like the under deck bulbs, or kitchen island, will be Edison as long as I can get them. That along with the 25 spares in the basement

The first ones that I bought are about 15 years now and still working. I have several that are in the ten year range.

I used to have 1/2 of a cabinet full of incandescent bulb spares, rummaging through it seemingly once/ month or so. After gradually replacing bulbs with LEDs I now have a small box and rarely get into it.

Wonder how easy it is to recycle an LED bulb with its pc board circuitry compared to the old metal and glass incans.

I remember bringing in the old bulbs. They would count and sort them then drop them in a hole and you could hear them breaking. Then they would give you new ones free of charge.

So you drank the Kool-Aid. I didn't think you were a *****. WTF? I still have a bunch of incandescent bulbs along with a mix of about 12 year old LED's in the house. Why turn in good bulbs? You gonna turn in your ICE vehicle and guns, too? Jesus.

It's not like he shot anybody or anything. He made a bad call and Dave ended up taking his forever nap. Bob wouldn't shoot anybody. He seems like a reasonable man.

Not saying he would shoot anybody. But I'm pretty sure a felony conviction carries some baggage with it and guns are one of them. However, it should be noted that I am not a lawyer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Heck, for all we know, part of his release obligations was to steer clear of shady individuals. Which means he's SOL if they find him here.

What are you babbling about now? That is what you used to do with burned out bulbs turned them in for free for new ones. I still have some good ones about but have been getting some led bulbs as well. The last ones I bought can change to any color of the rainbow. I see Tiki is still dribbling his knowledge he sucked out of his mentor's ass.

I've been around a long time and lived in many states and I have never heard of getting bulbs replaced for free.

Here our utility would actually pay guys to go in your house and replace all the incandescent bulbs. I had already done it- but there are a lot of programs out there. I’d start by looking at your utility and city websites.

They tried that with fluorescent bulbs and it was so lame that I ended up maybe getting 2 to 4 before I decided they were BS.

I have not seen a program with LED. I would absolutely jump on that. I have a bunch of incandescent bulbs I never got rid of. Show me the light.

What? That's what they used to do at the Edison store; you'd bring in your old burned-out bulbs and turn them in for new ones (back in the day). This has nothing to do with buying into LEDs or not.
