I'm about to go full conspiracy here. Buckle up. We say the virus originated in China. China says it came from the US military. Maybe BOTH things are true.

What if....The US military was working on weaponizing a virus. Knowing how the Chinese constantly steal from us, perhaps the Chinese stole this "weapon" but couldn't contain it. We had it well protected sealed, whatever, but that packaging may have had to be compromised for smuggling. Having it be stolen from the US Military, would explain why they were so slow to announce and so slow to act. Had the Chinese immediately said what it was, the response from the US. Would be "How the hell did you get that?". Also, the thieves possibly avoided direct travel to China and instead traveled through Europe to China. Unknowingly spreading it like Johnny Appleseed all along the way.
China first came up with an animal to human transfer, which steps away from being man-made but... the animal "could have" still been the source the US used as a source prior to manipulating it into a supervirus. Our government is exercising extreme overkill because as the "possible" inventors, they KNOW how bad this stuff is. They know the intended purpose and the consequences of falling in to the wrong hands. It makes multiple aspects of what we are seeing make a lot more sense...at least for me.

Now, if NONE of this is true, then remember I am on record here as the author and any movie deals are mine.
