Default buying 500 gallons of heating oil tomorrow

$3.129 a gallon

Best price I found. Stopped at the local business I used before and and the secretary gave me a price of $3.199 a gallon on 500 gallons delivered (all at once ).

She asked if I'd like to schedule a delivery and I said "No, I have more places to check". She said to let them know the best price to see what they could do.

I went home, made some phone calls and worst price was $3.469 gallon ( I made the guy repeat himself ) and the best was $3.149 a gallon and if you purchased over 400 gallons, it was $3.129

I went back, the secretary went back and talked to the owner and he's matching the price. My money stays local

Thank God for natural gas heating and a more temperate climate But good that they matched the price and for keeping your dollars local

That's more than enough for this heating season. I have a Franco-Belge gravity feed oil burner in the basement that will be burning on low. That makes for a warm basement /floor. Plus we burn coal

Hi Judy

We need to send the last two months of rain down your way. We've literally gotten 25+" of rain. The ground is so saturated when it rains, it comes up into my basement.

Between $200-$300 a ton ( loose or bagged )

I've been spending a little more to get higher quality bagged coal. Burns longer with less fussing.

1100 gallon capacity

In addition to the oil fired hot air system, we keep this Franco-Belge unit lit.

Coal can either be purchased loose ( in a one ton bag here )

or in bags

Then we burn it in the Harman insert

By doing it "the 1800's way", we'll have heat regardless of whether there is electricity or not. I have a well too. I like being responsible for myself.

That's cool looking shit.

We used to have tanks like that in my family Hardware store that. We had them filled with Kerosene and Varsol which we sold bulk to customers.

I don't think I've ever seen any of that before. I like Pennsylvania but, if I ever moved there, I'd probably need to take a class or something. Home Heating 101...

I have a fireplace and I've never used it.
