San José Mayor Sam Liccardo, an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton, launched into damage control mode the day after anti-Trump thugs violently attacked Donald Trump supporters attending a campaign rally in the sanctuary city, as did the chief of police.

While he blamed the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for the violence, Liccardo said he condemned “all acts of violence against people who exercise their rights to free speech and assembly, regardless of their political views.”

“While several physical assaults did occur, the police personnel on scene had the difficult task of weighing the need to immediately apprehend the suspect(s) against the possibility that police action involving the use of physical force under the circumstances would further insight [sic] the crowd and produce more violent behavior,” a SJPD statement read. [Basically: "Arresting them would just make them angrier so we didn't."]

one of these days, one of these thugs is going to protest against the wrong guy and have his ass handed to him. they better pray that they don't pick on someone with a legally concealed firearm. they think throwing punches is "fun", but someone concerned with their own well being views that as assault worthy of a reply (people have been killed by a punch, thrown rocks too).

I think it will come to that at some point. I don't know if you can bring a knife or gun to a political event. I would probably try to at least carry a small lockback pocket knife knife, and if I was swarmed and beaten, I'd do 360's with that knife and try to cut each attacker as best I could. If someone starts attacking me for no reason, I am assuming they are trying to kill me, and I'll respond appropriately.

I may not make it, but by God, I'll take as many with me as I can before I get put down.

it is well known that everyone going to the speech is screened by the secret service, ergo, no one coming out of the speech is legally carrying a firearm. thus, the thugs know they have the upper hand, as no one has screened them. and with the police not arresting anyone, their chances of being scooped up are pretty low. further, these thugs aren't your basic career types, they don't have jobs and careers to go back to. so a day in the jail is no big deal to them. it is to you and me.

Both he and the mayor SHOULD be impeached. they won't be because the liberals refuse to enforce the law equally.

Well now, you know that's not gonna happen. The political environment has become toxic. The people aren't truly represented, events for one side of those running for office have become riots, and it's not hard to guess there's plenty of "Far from the right thing to do" going on behind the scenes.

When the electorate no longer see's the legal system as working they start taking matters into thier own hands. This has happened time and time again through history. And it ALWAYS get's bloody and one of two things happen. Freedom is restored or tyranny rules.

Local news here last night said they already have made four arrests and more are expected.

The shit shoulda been stopped when it was happening. This "arresting" after the fact is nothing more than theater. The "arrested" will be nothing more than a slap on the wrist if even that. If I see proof the threats are real then I'll be glad to say I was wrong.

I wonder what a civil claims suit by one of the injured Trump supporters would do to the Police Department, coupled with a demand for a criminal Malfeasance case against the Police Officers just standing around and not following the law and arresting the protestors?

Might shake up some of the established Liberal Left. . .
